Pirates? I'd be more concerned it was the Flying DutchmanDeskJockey wrote: Tue Aug 01, 2023 7:17 pm Wonder if they were worried it might be pirates at first.

Re: Randomness
An unexpected style change from the old misogynist. Spoiler: it's actually good.
Re: Randomness
Spotted on Google Streetview: a road traffic offence. Caught in the act!

Move the view left and see the queue behind. And here's the sign further back which they should not have passed: https://goo.gl/maps/a5schA29uKdu7JAZ8

Re: Randomness
Mhmm, although I’d rather the police just followed/escorted it until it went off the main road but they’ll probably happily spend 15 minutes blocking a whole lane of a busy A road and making a colossal queue whilst the driver gets a bollocking and fine.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Randomness
That's the road up to Sutton bank. It's only just starting to get steep where they're stopped. It's been the demise of many a lorry, car/caravan, etc.Mito Man wrote: Fri Aug 04, 2023 11:46 am Mhmm, although I’d rather the police just followed/escorted it until it went off the main road but they’ll probably happily spend 15 minutes blocking a whole lane of a busy A road and making a colossal queue whilst the driver gets a bollocking and fine.

REMEMBRANCE OF THINGS PASTA
She blew her fusilli,
my pretty penne,
when she found me watching
daytime tagliatelle.
Je ne spaghetti rien,
I responded in song,
but she did not linguini
for long,
just walked out
without further retort:
a hard lesson to be tortellini,
orzo I thought.
And so here I am,
on my macaroni,
and now my days feel
cannelloni.

Re: Randomness
Must say I didn’t consider that the car would have ran out of steam and just ground to a halt. You see a constant stream of Brits in boggo spec Passats and the like towing pretty big caravans up mountain passes in the Alps alright so I’m surprised if a pretty modern car can stall out like that.

Re: Randomness
I think the location where the Streetview image was taken is at the bottom of the steep descent, so it's not that it's run out of steam - it's just come down the hill.Mito Man wrote: Fri Aug 04, 2023 2:33 pm Must say I didn’t consider that the car would have ran out of steam and just ground to a halt. Re: Randomness
^ Aye, it's at the bottom, and there's a toight corner on the main drag so it's probably as much about clearance as break's.
Re: Randomness
Sutton bank is terrible, it’s really long and that bend robs all your momentum, it’s not great coming down, even in low gear you need brakes to keep the speed low or you’ll be off at that corner, if you drive anything that will loo it gets sketchy if you go too fast
