My Kona done that with Android Auto until my software update was available to have full screen maps or 2/3 map/Spotify or whatever and 1/3 of the opposing feature. Hopefully Porsche will come up with an update to allow it.

F430 went to get wheel replaced on 27th June, Admiral then said they needed a second inspection, that took until last week, Italians are now on holiday until September and it looks like my car is also! FML! 🤦🏼‍♂️

Seems a faff going through insurance for a wheel?
How about not having a sig at all?

I missed this - what happened with the wheel? Pothole?

I remember there was some prior incident where the wheel nuts had not been done up properly but that was a while back so assume this is unrelated.

Mother moved car .. let’s be generous and say 10 ft.. angled kerb with a sharp edge went through the wheel and tyre like butter. New one (not from dealer) is £1200+. New tyre(s) and getting some kerb damage to the lower bumper. Easier to use insurance, or so I thought! Mum wanted to pay, this saves that discussion

Eta: tyre wouldn’t hold pressure due damage.

It’s sat in Lyndhurst currently, I may pop in tomorrow. Getting them to ship it back to Eversley where I plan to clean the bugger, and start a long list of small improvements that will be completed once Steve has some free time and I can borrow him and his lift! 😁

Ah - that's annoying.

To be honest the £1,200 for a wheel doesn't seem too bad (though I guess from a dealer it may have been 2-3x that) - I did similar to the first Boxster I owned and Porsche East London quoted me £1,000 for a new wheel and that was nearly 15 years ago. Clearly I didn't go down that route and bought a refurb'd one off ebay for about £250... though not sure how many 430 wheels there are floating around...

Sat in a queue on the M6 tonight (caused by an Alfa Stelvio being attended by two fire engines, it turned out) I heard a hoot from the brand new Ranger Wildtrak next to me. Bloke in it was very enthusiastic about my S6; I wound the window down and had a nice chat to him. I thought my car was pretty subtle but it seems to attract more attention than I expected.

My insurance is £450 pa, even if it doubles, it’ll still be 4 years before they break even! 🤷‍♂️ Alos, I checked the last email and they’re doing the “work” at HR Owen in Slough… think I will visit Lyndhurst tomorrow and ask “where’s my car!?”and then pop in to Sluff on Friday for a check.

Psst: Neither are for actual checks, just want to look at other Fewawis!.. and buy more clothing for SJ obviously 😂😜

8x new coils and 8x new BMW NGK plugs have arrived.

Light was fading by the time I got out there so only did no5 ( the missfiring one ) and no6 because they’re held down by the same clip.

Old plugs were bosch and don’t look awful, but worth changing. Missfire has gone and cylinders 5 and 6 now give the most stable readings for smoothness on the laptop. Will do a few more tomorrow if it’s not raining.

Something I noticed yesterday - I know the badge says "SF" for "Scuderia Ferrari", but in that font it looks very similar to "SJ". The car literally has my name on it 8-)

* trivia - "scuderia" literally means "stable", like wot you keep horses in, but is also used to mean "team" in relation to racing.

This evening I have been pulling the driver’s door apart to try and sort out the reluctant central locking. It seems to be simply a bit gunged up. Also a ripped & bodged back with gaffer tape vapor barrier. What old car doesn’t ??

I’m also tackling some of the stickiness. Ooh-err. They made extensive use of that soft-touch coating BITD, which was fine, but now it’s a disgusting mess. With the door dismantled I’ve cleaned up the release lever. Was going to paint it black but I’m tempted to polish it up and go with that.

They’re from a Mondeo ?? I’ve not seen that mentioned before !

I already de-stickied the window switches. Isopropyl alcohol is the stuff you need.

I've heard of people re-doing those with plastidip, but I doubt that has the robustness to handle 'primary touch point' use.

Respray pics. Apologies for the lateness. I fitted the new front spoiler - it's barely visible in the front pic. (which was a bit of a bastard as the previous one had clearly been ripped off and I had to remove some snapped bolts and remnants of the old one). Currently arguing with the body shop over the bonnet alignment which isn't as good as I'd like it and one of the window trims is a bit shonky. Overall the finish is excellent, the only downside is it really shows up how bad the interior is.

Odometer has stopped working, replacement gear ordered (there's a plastic driver wheel that crumbles with age). I've ordered some LEDs for the shifter lights (D isn't working) and I'll fit those while I've got the instrument cluster pulled. Then it's on to the sizeable list of jobs I've left to do.

@Delphi Andy, what is the interior like? Burgundy like this? I assume it's leather rather than a funky cloth like Pasha on earlier 928s, though I think the pinstripe would be my preference on an S4.
