Shelsley Walsh yesterday
Nic showed an interest yesterday so thought I'd post up (not very many) pics:
Imagine you all know what this one is:
Very Elan heavy yesterday, including a few in the car park too
The Lotus crew can tell me a bit more about this if they like:
I'd never heard of the Portofino
Still got a soft spot for these:
Sounded glorious, as expected:
Bad photo, but this was beautifully prepared:
There was a lot more there than that obviously, excellent turn out. I haven't posted any of the loony tunes single seaters as you can see. One chap looked like he was riding a lit firework - 770bhp and presumably around 300kgs no ta

Looks great
I really need to get my finger out and visit this place.

Nice pics. What camera did you use?
I’m a fan of Lotus Elan. I think they would work quite well as a weekend car in the congested roads here in the south.

Re: Shelsley Walsh yesterday
I spoke to Dave off here a few years ago as I wanted an SLR around £200 (second hand) and AFAIK he's still the man to go to about cameras. I bought mine with two lenses from MPB Photographic (supplier was also his recommendation). It's a Canon 450D with a EFS 18-55 IS and a EFS 55-250 IS. The latter is just as good as Wookie said and pretty much the only zoom lense I'll ever need.
Hope that helps, but in short speak to Dave!
Re: Shelsley Walsh yesterday
Portofino is the California replacement. Nicer, but still very much a tan/gold bracelet Ferrari.

'Base model' but still 592bhp
Re: Shelsley Walsh yesterday
Nice pics (no.5 reminds me I saw an RV8 a couple of days back), glad you didn't get the rain we had to spoil it
Re: Shelsley Walsh yesterday
Except the photo isn't of a Portofino? Looks like a Superfast
Your opinion is very important for me. Thank you please.

Ooft, based on an MX-5 apparently. Do you have any pics of the front?
An absolute unit

This one's got the for sale sign on it, £8500 IIRC

Thanks. I was sort of hoping you would say ‘phone camera’speedingfine wrote: ↑Sun Aug 12, 2018 8:07 pm I spoke to Dave off here a few years ago as I wanted an SLR around £200 (second hand) and AFAIK he's still the man to go to about cameras. My objective is to ditch the DSLR

If you're photographing motorsport (or airshows on occasion in my case) you're always going to need a decent zoom lens and phone cameras are never going to competeCoaster1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 4:02 pmThanks. Re: Shelsley Walsh yesterday
It doesn't look as bad from the front, you were clearly trying to make it look worse in that first pic .
I assume you bought it?

Yep - not a chance. Phones make tremendous cameras 99% of the time but fall flat on their arse when it comes to zooming.speedingfine wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 4:09 pmIf you're photographing motorsport (or airshows on occasion in my case) you're always going to need a decent zoom lens and phone cameras are never going to compete
Re: Shelsley Walsh yesterday
Chris / JL,
I agree. But the number of times I took action photos at motorsport events or air shows in the last 5 years...... twice.
Hence a small mirrorless and a decent phone should cover my needs. I could always borrow a DSLR if required.

It looked awesome tbh, I'm not usually such a fan of modern Ferraris. The wheels in particular looked spot on.
