Dan might have a better idea seeing as he seems to works a fair few low volume custom components.
Problem is that there are countless stories of people replacing/refurbing the magnetic dampers and having the same issue as soon as 12 months later. They're just not worth it.

Decent coilovers will be 2.5-3k but at least you won't have to worry about paying out again.

The Fulvia exhaust looks like it sticks out more attractively too.

I thought it sounded pretty rubbish before, I struggle to believe it was just a fractionally different bore and silencer layout, I imagine there was some other oddness going on with the old one as well.

Silencer internals could be very different too.

Excited to see the Emira I4 review tomorrow.

Not having time to drive the F50.... Who are you and what have you done with HarryM??

Looks like it wasn't published last night. Did Harry get the embargo date wrong? (Or have I got it wrong?)

Harry said it would be published at 00.01 Monday night/Tuesday morning, 8 August. So who was expecting it earlier than that?

Me. But it was indeed my error.

There is at least one i4 review on the tube though...

Without looking, I'm going to guess it's Schmeeeeeeeeeeee from that reaction.

Edit, actually, no, that would be an embargo breach and Schmeeeee is annoying, but not a fucking moron when it comes to maintaining access, so I'm guessing it's some no-namer who doesn't understand what an embargo is, who can barely string a sentence together and who rates cars based entirely on whether it matches their watch.

Hardly gushing with praise for Emira I4, apart from the price increase Lotus sadly seem to have some silly calibration issues still to get on top of.

Defeat snatched from the jaws of victory yet again?

No massive surprises for me there.

Sounds a bit meh. Expected. (I was pleased to hear that the gear-change fart seems reasonably subdued (?))
Bulk of the shove comes in the mid-range as opposed to top-end. Expected.
No "display" of engine. Expected - it's not pretty.
Lower CoG of the powertrain can be felt.

Surprised at comments wrt gearbox manual responses but I don't know how that compares with Merc(AMG) applications (?).
Low initial ratios - I guess Lotus didn't make any box ratio changes. Limitation of using other mfr parts (as @GG. highlights) - it does have quite a few cogs though so I'd expect top is still cool for cruising. I don't think there were any comments made about the upper ratios?

40+ mpg on a run is a strong positive. The V6 isn't particularly frugal.

Price comparison with entry level Cayman doesn't create a very compelling argument in favour of the Emira.

I don't see anything that would make the auto i4 more desirable than the manuel V6 for me, but maybe that will come when someone tunes theirs to 580+bhp. An Emira that pulls like Pete's 600LT would be pretty impressive.

Aside (cheeky bastard comment) : Harry's son sounds a bit posher than he does. I assume MrM sent his sprogs to a fancy school. Seemed pretty relaxed in front of the camera though. I'm rather (ie very) jealous of his access to Harry's fleet at such a young age.

Vid link below for teh lazy.

edit: I watched Jay Leno's manual V6 vid (or the start of it at least) immediately after this as it just came out too - the sound difference in the opening sequence is stark.

That sounds laughably bad, you can see why it’s so muted, interior sounds like a vacuum cleaner, exterior sounds like any 4 cylinder hatchback. Not sure why you’d want a driver’s car with all the torque right there, and the operation of the gearbox in manual mode seems utterly pointless due to how it’s setup.
How about not having a sig at all?
