27 brand new 992’s listed now!… 0% interest on VWs: the day these two facts combine can’t be too far off! 🤞
Cheers,

Gave the Galaxy a fairly thorough hovering and dusting ahead of the drive to Stockholm on Saturday. It is much nicer now!

Noticed a large stone chip (or at least that's what I assume it is) on the O/S front wing, about 0.5 x 0.5 cm, and right through to the metal. That's quite annoying, but means that I'll finally get the smart repair guy booked in. There's a fair few things to get dealt with. Not going silly, but need to sort that and a couple of other blemishes before they become worse.

Shame they don’t have a flat vented 355 style engine cover, would make a handy warming table 🤣

Ah, this is going to keep me busy  There's nothing serious just loads of minor stuff.

1) First off, and fixed already (!) the engine cover wasn't properly latching closed. I think the bloke had been driving it with it undone the whole time.
It would latch, just, but would easily pop open again by hand. Easy one - the release cable was too tight, preventing the latch fully engaging. Loosened the cable. Sorted.

2) Cheapie Alpine headunit removed and replaced with a nice green Becker.

3) Cheapie Alpine amp in the frunk. I'll remove that completely. There's loads of space in / under the dash so I'll fit a small amp in there instead.

4) It has a moderately well made speaker box behind the front seats, fitted with crappy 6x9s. Some slim 8" subs would work really nicely there.

5) Sticky plastic all over the place. That "soft touch" coating that was very popular BITD but is now a horrible goo. All the parts need removing and cleaning.

6) Central locking very reluctant. I think the mechanisms needs pulling apart and cleaning / lubing. I need to pull the doors apart to get at the speakers anyway.

7) Dash backlight not working. Not just bulbs here unfortunately, it's an electroluminescent panel. Probably a professional fix needed @ a few hundred quid. Or just never drive it at night :D

8) The red stripes on the interior are not as bad as they look in the photos. Genuine second hand steering wheels are ferociously expensive - £1k+ - so for now I've bought a s/h MOMO and will ponder the options.

9) Massively offset pedal are making my right ankle hurt. Hopefully I'll get used to it.

10) It's one heck of an engine bay. Pictures don't do it justice. It's huge and there's a *lot* going on in there.

11) It's dirty (literally). Superficially clean but filthy when you look into the nooks & crannies.

Dash panel light- can you not bodge some led strip in there somewhere?

It's bit more complex by the looks of it. I found a supplier of replacements though and they're not too bad price-wise:

Not sure how easy the job is though.

Has anyone got a spare copy of Autocar from 21 Apr 1999 lying around ? This one's on ebay for £7 but I'm a bit pikey.

I think @Sundayjumper should get a special award this year for having the minerals to buy a) a ludicrously cheap Bentley and b) a Ferrari from a dealer called Kash4Kars

I was thinking if my bonus this year is a few grand I might buy a really ratty E9x 335 for the lulz, but this really does trump that by rather a lot

You know, I was thinking the other day, six months ago I was driving a MINI. (let's ignore the other cars ;) ). Now I'm driving a Bentley & a Ferrari !

You can do the same ! Buy my e-book for just £29.99 and I'll share the secrets of how I did it !

( book contains one sentence - "sell worthless e-book for £29.99" )

On purchase or on delivery ? They nagged me into doing another one yesterday. I deliberately tried to look like an atypical Ferrari owner...

I'm not going to venture onto a 406 owners' forum  but I'm curious how often Ferraris get mentioned there.
