I'd rather watch the short YT highlights than C4.
none of that is by accident. I'm pretty sure I read that Sky have dictated the percentage of actual coverage they can show in C4s show, basically forcing them waffle to fill time and basically to be shit.
Agree. Sky have all the aces, so as long as C4 is willing to stump up some cash, then that's just gravy for them.

Brundle also going down the corporate brainless route more and more but can’t particularly blame him as he’s near retirement age and they have a bus full of ex-f1 drivers who are more than happy to replace him.

I don’t know why the Sky F1 contract was renewed recently as I thought F1 wanted to shift everything to their own platform which was a much better deal.
FFS I was looking forward to not having to pay Sky for coverage. Waffle aside (in the press release) I'm guessing Sky just chucked a very large number at them and that's it.

Does this mean you - or at least your phone, has to be home to watch BT ??

I'm sure I'll get it for less than £28 from Sky (22 year Diamond member) but I'll just have to jump through the usual hoops...

Won’t it still be free under the F1 legacy thing or is that no longer a thing?

Sorry Swede, my question wasn’t clear.

Can you be out and about but someone be at home watching BT? If they change channels, can they go back to BT etc??

(You may have guessed, I know nothing about casting TV from a phone :) )

Sorry. No as you're not on the same WiFi network that wouldn't work.

This Friday qualifying stuff is shit. Cba to watch it as it’s hardly a compelling watch if not live IMO. At least make Friday qualifying for the sprint race so Saturday quali is for the actual race 🙄

I must admit, I was half watching and they mentioned another quali session over the weekend and I hadn't a clue what was going on.

So the quali session yesterday was for the sprint race I thought? And the main Sunday GP? Obviously not, and clearly I missed something by barely watching...

The quali session yesterday was for the main race on Sunday.
There is another quali session at 11am today for the sprint race.

It’s not a quali session, it’s a “sprint shootout”

Ah, cheers. I remember watching every session and race and quali religiously, now I play candy crush or solitaire during sessions and most of the race...

Not F1 but Indycar. Having watched racing for so long and seen some bad crashes I tend not to be shocked by incidents, but this had me saying “fucking hell” out loud in costa earlier today

Also on the subject of crashes, lance stroll has called for immediate changes to spa after the sad news of Dilano van 't Hoff being killed in formula regional european championship today. Having stumbled on the footage, it’s horrifically similar to how anthoine hubert died, but it is at a different part of the circuit, so not sure if anything will change

But does that not make r it worse? Spa is a death trap and any professional racer knows it. Like Monaco it has no place on a modern calendar.

The fact a similar T-Bone incident has now happened twice shows spa has problems with cars getting flung in to track centre when incidents happen

They’re saying the main cause was lack of visibility from spray, which always seems worse at spa than other circuits, guess the tarmac doesn’t drain as easy

Spa is one of those places people go all doughy eyed over like Monaco so it’ll stay for the same reason Monaco does “because we always go there” regardless of anything going on

Didn’t look a particularly spa specific incident, cars can spin and get masked in a wall of spray pretty much anywhere, the car which spun out was well past the blind crest.

Even if you gave 200m run-off around the length of every track you’d still get occasions where a car could spin in its own axis and get stuck on track.

Yep that just looked like an extremely unfortunate incident - on the one hand you could move the barriers even further away from the track but then you have ever increasing street circuits with ever more blind corners so it doesn’t seem to be a concern for the FIA yet.
