One of my favourite places is Madison Square Park, where there's a Shake Shack in the park in front of the Flatiron building and even that is covered in scaffold so you can't see its iconic shape at the moment.

I'd watched this just before you posted;

that was a long way of saying "some guy bid to buy it then didn't pay". Would have been nice if they'd actually covered the questions they raised; Why is it covered in scaffolding? Why are there no tenants? Etc... if there was a planned renovation, what was the new design/purpose...
