There's a busy crossroads near my house, and I noticed yesterday, that I've actually subconsciously started to listen out for the sound of engine revs flaring as a trigger for me to cross the road (without waiting for a green man on the crossing itself)

The revs flaring is a sign of yet another car jumping a red light, and therefore I know the lights have changed, and it's OK for me to cross

That's pretty mental IMO, that cars so frequently speed up to jump the lights, that I've kind of been trained in a Pavlovian manner to respond to the sound
