same with me - I like wide arches and smaller cars with 2 doors.integrale_evo wrote: Tue Jun 27, 2023 6:43 pm Always thought they were quite cool, but never really had a huge want for one. Was always more of a three series person than a 5, and they were barely any quicker than the e36 or e46 m3.
Pretty sure they had the same recirculating ball steering as the other v8s and not the rack and pinion of the 6pots, I’m assuming for packaging reasons.
Suffered (similar to the e36) from looking too similar to boring engined sport versions at a glance too, and being dragged down by all the scruffy ones.
I’d happily have one these days though, in the right colour. Although I think I’d rather have the engine put in my x5![]()
Ooh, I saw a lovely Model A on Martha's Vineyard - a drop-top with dickey seat rather than the picnic box and in a different colour but something like this:dinny_g wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 9:28 am No Pics but a pearler 1930 Model A Ford down near Bournemouth last Saturday. I got chatting to the owner - lovely fella. He has two, the 4 seater I saw which was fully restored and also a 2 seat coupe which he has not restored the exterior at all on but he has completely sealed it so it's now frozen in time as a 90 year old car that will never age.
Hoovie did this - I think the gearbox then had an issue, which he fixed and then the car seemed to disappear quite quickly (though I guess that's the case with a lot of his stuff (and now sadly, most of it to fund what people expect is his divorce)).ZedLeg wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 12:37 pm I wonder how much work it would be to put a Subaru flat four in one of those. I guess plumbing a cooling system would be the biggest challenge.
Very cool and yeah, perfect setting.Jobbo wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 12:43 pmOoh, I saw a lovely Model A on Martha's Vineyard - a drop-top with dickey seat rather than the picnic box and in a different colour but something like this:dinny_g wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 9:28 am No Pics but a pearler 1930 Model A Ford down near Bournemouth last Saturday. Not just parked up, either - driving through Oak Bluffs, making everything else look utterly inadequate or inappropriate. The perfect setting for it.
