WEC removed intermediate tyres and tyre blankets to reduce CO2. There was a notorious wet Spa race which resulted in half the field being binned because of it. So they saved a little bit of CO2 and half the cars on the grid needed extensive repairs. Which is about as expected with all this BS virtue signalling.
Longer tracks are a real problem where they're half wet and half dry and you have no inters.

Update to this, commentary just mentioned that for this race only this year they're allowing tyres to be heated in ovens.

2 of 9 hours under SC which seems a bit nuts.

I'm enjoying the racing more than I expected, Hcars certainly look and sound better than previous LMP1 even if they aren't quite the production Hypercars I'd been hoping for.

I love how typical Ferrari the Ferrari team is. IIRC the team is made up of ex F1 staff who couldn’t be retained due to the budget cap and you can clearly see the similarities
