Errm…I’ve just renewed the X5 insurance. It was £460…I felt that was expensive. Mrs A’s mini was £140 last year.

Yes it isn't as bad when you look at it from that angle. Mito's 14k 4 year insurance cost would be more frightening if the car hadn't already done that in depreciation in 18 months.

To be honest I don't know whether to laugh or cry - I guess that's all part of Range Rover ownership

Whenever someone asks me what low depreciation 4x4 to buy I say a Urus (as a joke) despite hating them. I have just checked for the first time this year and it seems that 50,000 mile examples are finally going for a few grand under list price now.
Sometimes it pays to be vulgar.

Also who would have thought an Audi in an ugly dress would have such strong residuals?

Coolant issues on the Galaxy seems to have been resolved. Levels are fine after about 1k miles, half fully loaded, half yesterday (long day doing a 420ish miles round-trip).

Alas, all is not well. It looks like the driveshaft that was replaced last year has failed. There's a nice full circle of grease covering the wheel well and wheel. Not as much as last time, but unmistakably there. Booked in with mechanic on Monday.

Tbh, I'd have got rid if I was being asked to pay £1800 to insure a car. That's daft money imo.

I can just about stomach £1800 and to be honest living in South London and street parking things (e.g. a 911) - its never been south of £1000. This latest jump is another thing altogether though...

My renewal is due next month, I'll let you know the total but it'll be inbetween those two numbers. For my entire fleet....

Booked the Up in for a remap.

115 to 140bhp, and 148lbft to 180lbft (est.) so a decent uplift in a car weighing under a ton. The extra torque should make overtaking a little easier.

No replacement for the 4C as yet, so thing will have to do for now....

In 90s speak that's like putting an 1800 16v engine in a MK1 isn't it, very nice

It's with MidlandVW in Cannock - most UpGTi folk take theirs to JBS, but MVW have looked after my VW/Audi's for 15+ years so I'd rather give them the business. It's essentially an APR remap but unfortunately no RR run to follow, so will need to go find somewhere to give it a spin just to see what it's roughtly pushing out.

To think 10 years ago I paid £10k to gain 50bhp

I'm assuming you're talking about the Alfa? Couldn't you move some of the cost into the "makes nicer noise" column?
