Michelin seems to be alone on that one. Plenty of others advocate for 3mm. I get it'll postpone the cost a bit, but I'd rather know that I'm not driving on tyres that are very near their wear limits. Aquaplaning resistance goes down (no real surprise there) as the tyres wear and braking distances go up.

"The minimum tread depth is 1.6 mm. This means that it is imperative to change your tyres once this limit has been reached to avoid compromising your safety and breaking the law.
But it also means that it is premature to change your tyres before this threshold."

SO presumably michelin tyres are fine at 1.6mm and at 1.599 are CIRCULAR HARBINGERS OF DEATH!!!!111!111!eleven!!!111

Imagine if your tread depth went to 1.5999mm at the same time as the odo clicked over 100,000 miles.

Could only be made worse if your original windscreen was chipped that very same second.

200 miles @ 23mpg today and nothing seems to have fallen off. Excellent.

How much of a light foot hypermiler do you need to be to get 23 out of that? It's quite impressive I suppose given the bulk of it.

Almost entirely motorway with the cruise set somewhere between 65-70. It's pretty acceptable. For comparison, it's generally down in single digits for local trips

Seemed just the same - but then this was an event he was (presumably) paid to attend so may well have been "in character" ? I don't think the show is heavily scripted though. Saw him interacting with lots of people and he was great with everyone, always made time to chat and did seem to know his stuff.

I'd rather hang out with Fuzz though.

Whaaaattttt ? It's very good. Earlier series better of course, when the low budget genuinely drove Tim's blagging efforts, because nobody had a clue who they were. Later and very very much the latest series it was all a nod & a wink to get the supporting business on the telly.

Fuzz is totally a genuine old car buff though, he was technical editor of Practical Classics and has a particular penchant for buses.

And PWEI totally confused me. It was only dance fans that liked them in my Uni days so I ignored them, but then they went more industrial and listening back I quite like it.

I think they were a couple of years above me at Thorns and used to play upstairs in the Mitre.

And if you don’t have, or want a better brake flaring tool, these ones are great, and will flare oe steel lines on the car so you can use a joiner somewhere suitable instead of having to do the horrible bits which thread their way around the engine bay.

Little bit fiddly, but perfect flares every time.

Thanks for the tip, I ordered one and had a play with it today replacing the rotten mangled connections to the front brakes. Very easy to use.

Blimey, I had no idea that someone from the Poppies was also someone from Car SOS (which I've never watched, but probably should). Saw them live at least once in Birmingham when I was at Uni there, and used to dance to Beaver Patrol at the Agincourt in Camberley when I was at school. We drove there from Slough - a proper dirty sticky floor kind of club. I went again about 15 years ago and I remember I parked my company 3 series in their car park, which felt a bit wrong. The place hadn't changed, they still played Beaver Patrol and everyone danced to it in lines like they used to years earlier.

Always nice when people are happy with a recommendation. I’ve been happy with it and having it in the tool kit makes dealing with dodgy fittings and crusty pipes a lot less scary!

I remember that Barry; must have talked about Stourbridge on the forum years ago.

Only lived in Stourbridge itself for the first year of my life, and nearby until I was 10, but I opened a second office there last year. It's felt like a homecoming.
