Dunno. On imgur with phone or tablet you need to hold then drag down/up to get the link.

Drove the car for the first time in pure darkness to see how the new lights are, with my dad on photography duty. The LED headlights are pretty fvcking bright, with a few random hotspots. They self level pretty quickly too unlike the older BMW systems I’ve seen which never seem to react to the road quickly enough.
Image

Then the lightbar. The iPhone camera just can’t handle 45,000 lumens Image
I reckon the useful light goes a solid 1km in distance with the first few hundred metres as bright as daylight, stop for a few seconds and every insect starts to swarm around it :|
Turn them off and the once bright headlights look like they’re barely on as it takes a while for your eyes to readjust again.

The only annoying thing is driving during the day with the sun facing the bar. It’s essentially a massive reflector and blinding other road users, sometimes hundreds of metres away if the angle of the sun is quite low. Might have to order a cover for it.
The anti whistle kit works too, at first it was whistling at 70 mph but adjusting the rubber fins has got it silent up to 85.

Thus ends my obnoxious car update.
How about not having a sig at all?

Lighting is massively important, but a totally epic main beam with *just* excellent dip doesnt work imho.

The lightbar is not on the main bean, it has its own switch. I think it has to be on its own circuit to pass the MOT.

The first picture is the main beams, dip beams have half the light output of the mains so that works quite well. I think the DRL led doubles up as the main beam.

2010 Brabus Tesla Roadster

Another one that's been left standing by it's Japanese owner so the battery is now a brick. Current waiting list is 1-2 years from Tesla but even then they seem to be having problems with the new battery packs. So not sure what I'll do with it but at least it was cheap :D
Fucking WOW. What a list of cars! Amazing.

Re the Tesla,

a) What's 'Brabus' about it?

and

b) Can't you crack open the battery pack and replace the individual cells? Surely they're fairly 'standard' aren't they?
B) kzzzzzzrrrrrtttt zap ouchy fuck doing that!
The cells are a standard 18650 size, but the chemistry is slightly different to most 18650 cells in order to deliver high current quickly, you couldn't just fit a load of random Chinese cells designed for vaping and expect it to work, but I don't see why the power packs would not be savable.

The aforementioned vehicle, unused for over 10 years and in need of a complete overhaul. I do like them but would rather have the also aforementioned 911 in my collection.
Love that 8-)

I still need to scratch the 7 series itch, I'd really like an E23 but I like them all. Now might be the time as I'm thinking of getting something a bit bargey, my missus already didn't like the 318 because of the lack of interior but she hates it now I've lowered it .

I see. So it the light bar intended for "off road only" then?

The guy I'd bought it off had stripped it, I think he was planning to go drifting with it but found something else instead. I bought it as it was and put enough of the interior together to start using it (front seats and dash basically) I've not got round to putting the rest back in yet.

Fitting the lowered springs was more important obviously .

surely using it on the road would be very illegal and massively dangerous!

Bought an old car because I wanted to buy one
Nicely done Ste, I have many a hankering for cars of a similar ilk hence my Renault 4 parked next to my FF :D

I have a complete but damaged Corvette Z06 with LS7 coming soon for parts by the way ;)

I've been meaning to post a fleet update for a while now so while I'm here...

Have you thought about doing a Bryn's Garage channel on Youtube, I'd watch!

Just had a call from BMW to say the 4 Series rear wiring harness is shot hence all the error messages.

BMW 330Ci - initial impressions:
Needs a jetwash - has farm dust and road crap on it from transportation. Otherwise, it's nice and clean outside, could do with a decent valet inside and a little bit of leather resto, but otherwise it's OK.

Mechanically it feels good. Clutch is a bit soft but I suspect that's the clutch delay valve as it seems to bite OK when testing it at idle. I didn't notice that on the coupe I test drove, but I suspect it had been fettled by someone along the way, whereas this one is very original.

It's quick once you get it up on cam, too. And sounds nice, gets a proper howl on.

Steering is nice and clean if a bit heavy, sorry, 'sporty' but the lack of 'nose heavy' feel that you get in the Mondeo is quite noticable - did some motorway slip roads that start with fairly open u-turns and it felt quite of-a-piece and evenly weighted.

Overall, I'm pleased.

Got Mondeo to sell (which shouldn't be too hard, it's no shed, and it's relatively low milage, quite clean, interior is perfect, all elecrics work, etc) then I'll be E46ing it for hopefully a good long while.

Selling the Mondeo should keep the 330 in fuel for a couple of months...

I'll probably not be using it to commute given I only live a touch under two miles from work - unless the weather is fucking terrible, or I plan to head off somewhere straight after work.

So that'll help!

Make sure you get the rear subframe checked, mine was fooked and wrote the car off.
