1459 for me, too but network capacity probably defined the exact time rather than platform used.dinny_g wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 3:03 pm 14:59 for Apple Products

Annoyingly, it stopped me podcast, but didn't let it auto restart like other notifications. I mean, if someone nukes Birmingham, I think it's rather finish off my podcast before having to process that. Priorities, people!

Re: Emergency Alert…
This test means there's a very high risk that they they might need to alert the whole country to some large-scale disaster and that frankly scares the shit out of me. I had a friend who was undercover in counter-terrorism and the stuff he told me about the terrorist attacks which had been prevented scared the bejesus out of me.

I’m just waiting for it to turn into an overreach of privacy. A friend who is in New York says they get one or two of these most days over random criminal activities eg look out for a specific numberplate and inform police of you see it.Gavster wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 3:16 pm This test means there's a very high risk that they they might need to alert the whole country to some large-scale disaster and that frankly scares the shit out of me. Reading on Twitter it seems that if you are on the Three network you didn't get the alert

Get these in the US for a long time.. mostly child abduction or severe weather warnings. I think it’s a good idea, but don’t know if our system is geo specific or are we all going to be told about someone dismantling Hadrian’s wall!
Cheers,

Jesus wept we’re about the only developed country which hasn’t got the system implemented already. This predates the Ukraine war and I’m not sure how useful receiving a text warning you about an imminent nuclear strike would be.

Turned mine off the other day and completely forgot about it while mucking about in my shed until seeing about it on the news just now.
Can’t imagine it being all that useful anyway unless it’s very geographically specific.

Is why I turned mine off. If I'm in immediate danger it makes no difference.integrale_evo wrote: Sun Apr 23, 2023 7:06 pm Turned mine off the other day and completely forgot about it while mucking about in my shed until seeing about it on the news just now.

Re: Emergency Alert…
I got it with maaaany others whilst sitting on a plane just as we started to push back from the gate. It was feckin loud and caused some panic with those who didn't know it was coming.
