Opening the throttle as fast as I dare in 2nd it gets to the limiter before I can get to full throttle.

A lesson to all current and future bikers.

I took the cover off the BMW today and gave it a hose off ready for a thraping on Friday morning. Couldn't stop looking at it and thinking 'I own this!'

THAT'S what you look for in a bike. 😎

Not too much to ask is it? 8-)
Thought I'd better show up occasionally, just for you Marv.

That list is about right, although I'd add an enduro as well if space allows.

Fazer is just about to click over 64k miles, still rattling along nicely.
Tracer now on 7.5k miles and I'm working round the budget suspension for now.
GSXR has been out to play a could times, still makes me giggle.

I'll add a few pics when I figure out where to host and how to add..
Welcome back Barry, I thought you'd flounced 😉

An enduro bike would be a huge amount of fun and does appeal 😎

Space only allows for two bikes right now, so even listing three bikes was unrealistic!

Was speaking to a bloke at work today and he mentioned in passing that his dad's beloved and well cared for Tracer (with sorted suspension) will be going up for sale... I'm tempted to ask how much, but then I suspect it will be far more than I've budgeted. I'm sure economics works on bikes too. Natch.

On another note, nice one Chris regarding going for a full license. I'm loving being on a bike and the recent great weather has been a god send.

That's pretty much how I feel about my BMW! 😉

Ha ha. I’ve just finished work and got back home. Opened the garage and had the same thought about my picnic table!

I’m a lucky chap.

No.

There is no luck. You've saved up and got the car you've always wanted. None of that was luck.

Ha, no flounce just busy year and this place didn't seem to be gaining traction quickly so I just got on with things.

Tracer needs suspension upgrade, and should be fairly cheap. They're nothing special as a collection of bits but they do get on with things quite well. Still haven't decided whether to swap for something a bit more special or just upgrade the suspension.

And yes, bikes should get bought with the heart to a large degree, otherwise what's the point.

I looked at another KTM but they're servicing and general concerns about reliability put me off. Same answer with BMW tbh. I am still tempted by the Z900RS though, but no rush there.

Still can't decide what to do about the car either, mid life crisis purchase or just get a sensible estate and stick with the bikes for giggles.

I've been looking at those, don't know if it would be a bit much for a first bike though. It's got more power than anything else I've been looking at. It's the most expensive as well.

I've ridden dirt bikes off road and I've been having a bit of practice on my mate's bike, just low speed maneuvering and getting used to the controls. The only thing I've ridden on the road is a wee twist and go scooter though.

I'd give it a bit more road miles before seeing what bike to get.

Like I did by buying a brand new Super Tenere that I couldn't test ride as I didn't have a license.

So, erm....

Aye, the course I've booked gives you a loan bike so I don't need to rush into getting anything. I'm going to get the license sorted then go shopping.

I pretty much know what I'm looking for, I've been thinking about doing this for ages.

Z900 is certainly going to feel eager to you but it's hardly earth shattering power so I see no reason you couldn't handle it. I'd suggest you start smaller anyway just so you get to enjoy working your way up the ladder, so to speak.

I've been looking at Street Twins as well, same engine size but about half the power of the Z900. I'm probably leaning more towards the Triumph TBH, I've already been looking at aftermarket exhausts and stuff .

Just need to see what I prefer once I start looking at actual bikes rather than pictures and reviews online.
