Interiors that have aged well?
Interiors that have aged well?
I was having this conversation the other day and mentioned that I thought the S2000 interior is pretty good for a 25 year old design.
The elise of course has nothing inside it to age so that still looks great to me, unlike some other 20+ year old cars that just look dogshit inside now.
What say you lot.

Elise always did look fantastic to me. Still one of my favourites.
S2000 just looks like every other 90s Japanese interior with lots of cheap black plastic - not ugly or wrong in any way, but definitely of it’s time.

I'd agree with that, and the R56 too. My stepdaughter's car really does not feel like a 17yr old design inside.
I think the Fiat 500 interior has aged well too, but that's only from a lift in a recent one. I guess it hasn't been changed much inside since it launched.
Don't think my Audi interior has aged particularly well; it is functionally fine and solid but looks terribly old-fashioned with the pop-up screen etc compared to a current A6.

I was going to say Citroen CX but I couldn't find a decent picture of it and doubted myself

An absolute unit
Re: Interiors that have aged well?
In looks, agreed. In material quality it's not great.

TBF I think most BMW interiors age fairly well. Well, maybe until recently. They've never been as trend-led as some of their rivals, so whilst they've looked a bit less sparkly new, they've tended to still look decent with age.

Original Veyron

Much nicer than the later Chiron interior, and apparently better quality too

How about not having a sig at all?

I like the BMW e63 dash as it still looks pretty good. They had a pretty massive idrive display at the time so if you just add CarPlay it's as modern as it gets

The other cool thing is the curved line across the top dash - it goes around the doors and round the back seats making a full oval. Which is something the Veyron also does. Curvy interiors just flow better than squared off ones.

Not been in anything recent with a touchscreen, then?Mito Man wrote: Fri Mar 10, 2023 3:04 pm I like the BMW e63 dash as it still looks pretty good. They had a pretty massive idrive display at the time so if you just add CarPlay it's as modern as it gets

But the CarPlay add on is a touch screen.

I reckon the 8 will look very shit in a decade

The centre of the dash looks like an afterthought in integration. The screen is a massive trapezoid leaving behind a bezel you can fit a small phone in either side of it. Central air vents small rectangular things, side air vents massive weird shaped things that look like they belong in an old pick up. No symmetry in the interior. Too many buttons. Shiny plastics everywhere which will scratch if wiped clean.

I mean a touch-screen interface generally. The E63 6-series switches and buttons look pretty archaic even compared to an F-series BMW, let alone a G-series. Mind you, I always disliked the 6-series interior compared to the E60 5-series because the passenger side dashboard looks like it was pulled from a different car and glued on.

I think most non-fussy screen-free interiors age better than anything with a screen, especially if the screen is small. Despite being a much older design than the Zoe I think the Galaxy has aged better. Zoe already looks dated with the small screen when you see the facelift version.

I’d take most 20+ year old interiors over most modern ones with big screens stuck on and plastic painted to look like metal.
I prefer BMWs with the two big and two small dial layout too.
