He had a whole bus lane to himself. He saw the bus approaching in his mirror so decided to drift towards it!

100% that. Mr J.Vile is on an anti-anything-but-bikes crusade though

It’s a shame as there are many examples of actual bad driving where the vehicle pilots need to be properly addressed - these are now mingled in the mire of bullshit being shared.

I am not sure if the comment in relation to engine noise is relevant, but it’s a shit move by the car regardless.

Is it me or is he moving right without checking behind him or next to him or signalling? If you did this in a car and caused an accident you’d be at fault.

He’s really not helping the cause either. Every time I see one of those videos posted my immediate thought is “what are they moaning about now, yet another perfectly safe pass?”

Different angle which just clarifies what has already been stated:

1. Is Mr Vile originally riding in the centre of his lane? Yes.
2. Does the bus pass with it's wheels slightly over the line - encroaching on his lane? Yes.
3. Does Mr Vile see the bus making a pass, and drift approx 50cm to the right of the centre of his lane - whether intentionally or via lack of competence - creating the problem? Yes.
4. Is he a TAUC? Yes.

There seems to be a lot of that just now and cyclists also resorting to sweeping generalisations about all car drivers, that they really hate getting flung in their direction.

I swear Vine is going to come a cropper by just riding in to the side of a car/bus to make a point. He doesn't seem to be riding very defensively or reading the road ahead at all.
Cheers,

Mike.

That would not suit his agenda - you can't peddle (pun intended) your horror and outrage that vehicle users are not taking full responsibility to ensure the safety of more vulnerable road users if you ride defensively or read the road ahead and take action to minimise risks.

(Which isn't to suggest that vehicles never put capable cyclists/pedestrians at risk, cos they do).

The mountain bikers in and around our town, it must be a mid point for some good cycle routes, all ride as before. Positioning themselves sensibly etc.

Road bike riders seem to be as normal, either big groups taking up the road but going quickly so no real bother to anyone.

The issue appears to be high viz, laser blinder light wearing (normally on strobe) folk who are cycling to work etc. a really odd thing to do with traffic how it is. Just selfish and pretty silly.

This is my biggest issue with him and his ilk, and the shift that seems to be happening as a result. What they undermine is that it is the responsibility of EVERYBODY that uses the roads to ensure that they avoid an accident, whether it be an accident that would be your fault or otherwise.

I'm all for highlighting the dick moves that some drivers pull, or even instances where drivers haven't perhaps been fully on the ball, as that only serves to assist others in understanding the risks assocaited with driving etc. But at the moment the likes of Vine et al are taking things too far, and it only serves to undermine the positive education that goes on. It also serves to further drive a wedge between cyclists and drivers, and whilst that might not result in a behaviour change for most drivers, for the few dicks that would willingly put cyclists at risk it will only further entrench their mindset, and therefore is counterproductive to the very cause that Vine and the like are pushing.

@Swervin_Mervin Absolutely agree.

He has the capabilities of Maureen from Driving School, with an unhealthy dollop of nefarious intent - in order to push for the removal of higher-risk road users for his protection (mostly from himself).

On a more simplistic level, I think he's partly sating a common propensity among minor celebrities to stay relevant by inciting outrage among the general populace.

I'm pretty sure his agent will be egging him on and saying "look, you got 500 comments on that post, do more of that! There might be a Police, Camera, Action gig in it for you".

I've always felt that he's a bit of a human form Daily Mail - I once made the mistake of listening to 5mins of his radio show, years ago, when I was on a remote site visit and R2 was the only station I could pick up. Had me raging in seconds
