Guess the next car

Post by Sundayjumper »

Yeah. We're all getting bored with this game but this one has a slight twist. As you know the Vito is for sale. I've had a couple of lowball offers and then a suggested swap/px came up. Normally these are ludicrous but this sounded interesting. Over emailed photos it's provisionally agreed as a straight swap. It is:

German
Grey
Four seater
A brand I've owned before but I've not owned this model
6cyl diesel

Crucially - someone thinks it's worth the same as my van. It feels like the deal is in my favour (i.e. I can't see another one of these in this spec listed for sale for £4k) but we shall see. It might turn out to be a huge disaster  We're planning to meet up next week and view each other in person.

No but you're in the right kind of area genre-wise.

That would be lovely but I don't think anyone would swap one for my manky old van !

The mystery car is a Merc though. You're correct on that.

Deckjockey was first to get CLS, but Cento nailed it as a CLS350.

It's a "Grand Edition" which was a run-out of the C219 model with nice wheels & a c. 50bhp boost over the regular 350 thanks to a Brabus ECU. I wasn't looking for a CLS but it sounds interesting and slightly different. Looks much nicer than van, at least.

That looks great. I look forward to you becoming a Merc man now.

Does it have memory seats? Though the spec was pretty good on Grand Editions, I am fairly sure they were an option.

I knew you would approve Jobbo :D

As a straight swap for a van that's shaping up to be worth sub-£4k, I think it looks extremely good ! I was highly likely to buy another barge of some kind. This gets me there in one hit. And immediately stops any budget creep.

The only downsides are that it's done nearly 150k miles, which doesn't bother me in the slightest (and my van has done 210k), and he's in Manchester so we're meeting halfway which looks like Birmingham-ish.

Seats - yes it does, controls on the door. I'll likely be the only person driving it so the value of having them is a bit moot. The wheels are a bigger deal for me.

Very nice. I think that’s one of the Merc designs which has improved with age. Brabus ECU is a bonus!

That is a lot of car for £4k.

@16vCento shall we share the virtual Revels?

I have to agree. I remember not liking them when they came out. I'm still not sure about the headlights, but any angle where you can't see them I reckon it looks good.
