Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
Is the 133 the fwd car in the same vein as the 182?
The later mid engine red model was a bit pants iirc.

I rarely got more than 26mpg out of the Puma, in fact apart from around town it was rarely below 4000rpm

Yeah, a company up in Knaresborough that was recommended by a Porsche specialist up there. They've done a couple of 928s and when I went up for a look round they were just finishing off a Testarossa that looked incredible. They do a lot of Bentleys, TVRs, Porsche etc.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Realised I’ve never even taken a picture of it, never mind posted one so here’s one that I’m not sure is even good enough to have been taken on a potato
Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
Looks cool and definitely passes for a current model, not 13 years old.
Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
I know I'm biased because I owned one, but I still think the lines and proportions of the 306 look great
Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
My neighbour has a facelift (clear headlight lenses etc) 306 convertible, and while the convertible with the roof up isn't the best shape, otherwise it still looks sharp and quite elegant.
Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
Aye, I think the facelifted one still looks great. The older one gets dated by styling cues it shares with the 205 & 405.

Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
It’s a weird one the 306, when you compare it to the later 206 it looks like the older car, yet less dated
Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
Hope you are pleased Andy! When I got my Mcoupe done it really was worth the wait.Delphi wrote: ↑Fri Mar 03, 2023 3:53 pmYeah, a company up in Knaresborough that was recommended by a Porsche specialist up there. SAT Leon MK2 still looks quite fresh for being 18 years old.
Was going to suggest an Avantime at 22 years old but the headlights age it. Looks good from other angles though.
On the supercar side Lamborghini Gallardo is 19 years old now and doesn't look particularly dated.
But I think my winner is the Zonda at 24 years old

Re: Cars which have aged well - first BMW Z4
I think the clean lines of the early alfa 156 has aged well. Flush arches and lack of side mouldings make it look newer than most things from the 90s.
Only the soft grille shape really ages it compared to more angry looking ones which came later for those that know about such things.
There’s lots of older cars I didn’t really like for a while but have started to appreciate as they’ve aged, but that’s probably just me being odd rather than the designs ageing well
I think the e53 x5 is looking better again with age. A lot of the newer ones look very similar from the front, right until you get to the hideous modern ones. Only the big flat tall rear end really dates it. The later e70 has aged better from that angle.

That MG thing on the other thread prompted me (as I was thinking how much I'd rather have a Sagaris) to think how much the TVR Tuscan is an incredible looking thing for 1999. I mean how much car is this for £25k!

I was thinking the original Gallardo for this thread. It's such a clean design compared to the later ones.

And the 5.0 is a proper Lambo engine and better sounding that the later audi 5.2s
Sad thing is that one of these is within budget for the next fun car but its in that awkward phase where it is neither classic nor new and the interior is frankly horrific for the current prices these change hands for. Plus I can't be bothered with the anxiety of something that may ingest its cats on the overrun and write off the car.
