Works much better for me as I usually just have a double espresso with a splash of water, Delonghi still going strong too. Been contemplating splashing out on something with a manual steam valve to up my milk frothing game but it's not really needed.

Re: Your Coffee Machine Running Reports
We've just started using our machine regularly again, ran out of aeropress filters and not got round to getting more yet

You can get a reusable stainless steel filter, we have one. I felt the coffee tasted slightly better with it too, there's a tiny paper-y taste with the regular filters.
Re: Your Coffee Machine Running Reports
Yeah we had one, lost it and never got round to getting another because the coffee shop at the end of our road sells the paper ones. Re: Your Coffee Machine Running Reports
The one thing that annoys me about my Magnifica is that there's no visual indication from the front as to how much water is left in the tank and if you brew a coffee when there's insufficient water you end up with 1/3 of a cup that you have to throw away as it won't resume making your coffee when you refill the tank.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Holy thread bump Batman.
Just got the kitchen finished and we want to replace our pod-based machine that leaks with something which will make lovely coffee and ideally, not leak. Space isn't an issue to have something permanently on the counters, so I was just wondering what recommendations are?
I like an espresso or a flat white and Mrs Mike just likes a good, strong, turbo-fuelled coffee for these overnights at the hospital in particular.

I've got one of these at home and the model without the milk frothing jug at work, both really excellent machines that make a fantastic cup of coffee. I drink black coffee so i'm very fussy about it as I don't dilute it with milk or sugar.

Man, I really want a machine to make decent espresso, but I'll want to use it more than I should. Definitely trying to moderate my intake!

Man, I really want a machine to make decent espresso, but I wont use as often as I should after the initial flurry of interest. It'll become an unused kitchen ornament

That looks like the sort of thing we had in mind - a smaller version of what they use in coffee shops. So its good to get first hand impressions as its a big outlay.dan wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 8:46 am I've got one of these at home and the model without the milk frothing jug at work, both really excellent machines that make a fantastic cup of coffee. No danger of it being an unused ornament in this place!

My Delonghi has been sitting unused for months as I need to order parts.
The aeropress is just so convenient.

I don't drink much coffee at all, so my Bialetti is appealing as an ornament
Re: Your Coffee Machine Running Reports
I think I'd use it every morning, and the wife would too, but I agree that it is still a risk because most kitchen gadgets do follow that fate (we should start a 'what kitchen gadgets do you actually use' thread).dinny_g wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:55 amand for me:duncs500 wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:53 am Man, I really want a machine to make decent espresso, but I'll want to use it more than I should. I also like to go out for a coffee, and it might reduce the amount I do that, which would be a shame.

Re: Your Coffee Machine Running Reports
My espresso machine broke a couple of months ago which put me back onto using the aeropress or moka pot. My coffee intake has halved and my sleep has improved as a result. I’m kinda tempted not to get another espresso machine, the coffee is so tasty I can’t stop slamming them all morning!duncs500 wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:53 am Man, I really want a machine to make decent espresso, but I'll want to use it more than I should. Re: Your Coffee Machine Running Reports
we have a fairly cheap Nespresso pod machine and a separate frother. i don’t drink coffee but the wife is a coffee fan/snob and has cupboards full of gadgets and machines that she’s used and abandoned over the years. i make her a starbucks toffee nut latte with soya milk every morning and she seems happy with it.

This is something we've been mulling over as well. We don't have quite the luxury of worktop space - we've had to be fairly efficient in that regard, even switching to an induction kettle. Still on the fence about whether to get a decent coffee machine.duncs500 wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 10:55 amI think I'd use it every morning, and the wife would too, but I agree that it is still a risk because most kitchen gadgets do follow that fate (we should start a 'what kitchen gadgets do you actually use' thread).dinny_g wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:55 amand for me:duncs500 wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 9:53 am Man, I really want a machine to make decent espresso, but I'll want to use it more than I should. Made worse by the fact that I love what I can make with my Moka.
As for pods - they're a step up from instant but that's really about it.
Re: Your Coffee Machine Running Reports
I discovered you can get an induction plate for a Bialetti so mine might get some use again: https://www.johnlewis.com/bialetti-coff ... m/p6268977Swervin_Mervin wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 2:37 pm [...] even switching to an induction kettle. Nice. Although you could just replace it with an induction Bialetti. We only had cheap Mokas before the induction hob, so didn't feel too bad about chucking them and getting a new one.Jobbo wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 2:39 pmI discovered you can get an induction plate for a Bialetti so mine might get some use again: https://www.johnlewis.com/bialetti-coff ... m/p6268977Swervin_Mervin wrote: Wed Feb 05, 2025 2:37 pm [...] even switching to an induction kettle. Still using the old Jura J7 here, costs more to service than all my cars though.
To give it credit it has a coffee counter thing and it has made over 10,000 drinks without issue so I can't fault it.

How about not having a sig at all?
