We've had a few of the team go for Tesla's and they've been getting them quicker than expected. A few would quite like to give them back tooJobbo wrote: Tue Jan 17, 2023 6:57 am Or Tesla has been making more cars than they sold so have excess stock they need to sell. Hence the quick delivery times for the reduced-price cars.

Oh Sir Elon of Musk,
Twitter farce lost you trust,
Watching analysts and fanbois,
Flagrant scattering of all toys,
Tesla shouldered the fuss - share price hammered to dust.

My parents had an order for a Hyundeye Ioniq 5 but it kept getting pushed, they've bought an ex demo instead. Supply chain is still a problem for them main, suggesting what Jobbo said might well be the case.
Re: EV Thread
Tesla make most of their parts in house so they’re less affected by supply chain shortages. I don’t think they ever genuinely had supply chain issues as once both their Chinese and German factories were properly up and running they had excess cars and not enough buyers.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: EV Thread
There's definitely been an effect on used Tesla prices. I wonder how much it'll hit other used EV prices?

Re: EV Thread
Not in the slightest. These are not the EV’s you are looking for….Jobbo wrote: Tue Jan 17, 2023 12:52 pm There's definitely been an effect on used Tesla prices. I wonder how much it'll hit other used EV prices?
Re: EV Thread
Retail for my i3s seems static at early £30's but wbac valuation has dropped from £30k 3 months ago to £24k today.
Time of year is probably a bigger factor than Tesla price drops though.

Re: EV Thread
That’s a worry as Perkins will change from Diesel engines to batteries in the not too distant future.

The evq300 is plugged in, pre heated using the mains and still only showing a max range of 142 (down from potential 190). miles, presumably due to the -2c temp.
Re: EV Thread
A real shitter!! A lot of companies were looking forward to plenty of work coming out of this project including mine. A real shame and I hope some form of resurrection is on the cards at some point soon.
Re: EV Thread
BritishVolt was always a scam. It was set up by Swedish fraudsters looking to profit on the easy money handouts Boris was giving everyone.
Even by the beginning of this year they had no experience in the industry, no battery technology, no real customers. Just backed by investors and the government who must have very little due diligence.
Nissan could see through the shit and partnered up with a Chinese battery company to build them their own facility.

Re: EV Thread
There now seems to be more threads on social media bashing EVs rather than singing their praises. Real-life v claimed range (I guess winter might have something to do with this) and the state of the charging network seem to be the two constants.
Its also interesting to see some of the threads about EV usage on non-car forums where the charging network being terrible (and confusing with the different types of chargers) is the common thread.
How are the ones at train stations supposed to work? There's two at our local station which gives it a charging capacity of, um, 2. First come, first served, they plug their cars in, go on the train, come back at night and unplug.

Re: EV Thread
My best mate and his dad were telling me the weekend at the rugby about EVs. The infrastructure isn't there yet and the range is too low.
Neither have an EV!
The dad has a driveway with a 17yr old Hyundai i20 with 60k miles on for running around, picking grandkids up etc. It couldn't be a better fit to be replaced by an EV.
Then he was telling me the grid can't cope when I suggested he try one
Brainwashed!

yep, sounds like he should definitely replace his £500 Hyundai with £40k of new EV…Carlos wrote: Mon Feb 06, 2023 10:24 am My best mate and his dad were telling me the weekend at the rugby about EVs. The infrastructure isn't there yet and the range is too low.
