This whole thing just shows how good a salesman Musk is. He's charging people to have what they previously had for free and they're thanking him for it! More than that, they're getting riled up enough to argue that it's unfair that Apple/Google take a cut of that charge because he didn't read the T&Cs of the company he bought.

I expect he's pissed off and feels he can't go back and ask for $11 instead to cover the fees he forgot about, but to be honest, he could go back for $20 a month and they'd all kiss his arse and pay it!

Probably be OK with those choices to be fair. Possibly by luck more than design - to your point.
Yeah, if someone - anyone - had raised that question, they'd have used different icons.

Because it negates the issue entirely and it's the obvious answer to anyone who has worked to accessibility targets/standards. Even a fucking idiot like me.

Ah, it just gets better and better.

Context:

It's not like Kanye Wests antisemitism and hitler love wasn't known before Musk let him back on Twitter. It was literally why his account was suspended and Musk was so very pleased to welcome him back.

Boy, can't imagine why those advertisers, that ~90% of Twitters revenue stream, are running for the hills.

Kanye West outed himself as a complete lunatic with even more idiotic views than we'd ever seen before - this is a good way to deal with things - give people space to express themselves so we can all make a judgement.

And I said it earlier in the thread, Musk is specifically moving away from an advertising-supported model on Twitter, so I'm not sure why you're all so obsessed with him losing ad revenue 😂 it's as if you're obsessively focused on the short term

Musk seems to be pretty focused on the short term. He's moving fast and breaking things every day. That's probably due to the vast debt repayments he's encumbered Twitter with, meaning if he doesn't relatively quickly make it pay, he'll lose control of it.

There are 300,000 Twitter blue users. At $8 a month, that's about $29million raised a year. Twitters turnover in 2021 was $5billion.

He may need those advertisers.

Er, Kanyes antisemitic views and hitler love have been known privately for years, publicly for months, and he was already suspended from twitter for it.

A judgement had already been made.

Musk made the decision to un-suspend him knowing this.

Musk wants Twitter to be the "everything app" - like WeChat is in China

Social, shopping, banking, payments, news, video etc etc

However, as someone pointed out in a YouTube video recently, WeChat was built pretty much without competition in these spaces

In the rest of the world there are already numerous, established players in each of these verticals

I'm placing the current Kanye meltdown very much in the pity camp... He really needs better people around him to take care of him. His on/off taking of his medication is obviously having serious long term impacts on his mental health - who know's - may have even caused his weird anti-Semitism.

It's sad seeing it play out in public.

Aye, from the outside it looks like he's surrounded himself with enablers who're taking advantage. Nick Fuentes and Milo Yiannopolis aren't people that should be able to be whispering in his ear.

Very true Zed…

(For the record, I’m not trying to excuse his anti-semitism but he’s obviously unwell.

Oh, don't get me wrong, Kanye needs sectioning for his own safety (I'm not being flippant - I've been on the borderline of being sectioned in the past, and have a couple of friends who have been - and they reckon it saved their lives) and the people who are responsible for his wellbeing, in a perfect world, would be in prison.

But manic episodes generally don't change your entire worldview, they tend to amplify it and make you rationalise it as valid, harder. He could have gone on there and shouted about how pink is blue with just as much conviction if he were, say, a lanscape artist, because in the throes a manic episode, you are unstoppable, and you are right regardless of any evidence to the contrary.

It doesn't tend to wholecloth change your core beliefs though. And Kanye has made plenty of antisemitic dog-whistles in the past.

Aye my sympathy has limits as millions of people deal with BPD and bipolar conditions without becoming antisemitic arseholes. He should’ve had someone to pull him back before he got to this point though.

Theres a solid argument that should have been after that interview a few years ago where they had to cut out several minutes of antisemetic ranting.

But they (his management and support group) couldn't let their little cash cow go quiet now, could they?

So Kanye loves the Nazi ideology but would the Nazis love him? For his own good, I think we should send him to an extreme Nazi group somewhere in Europe to see how much the love is reciprocated...

Oh, and after Musks little darling being banned for breaking twitters hate speech/incitement rules a few weeks ago, which Musk giddily rolled back and was very proud of, Ye is banned again. For exactly the same thing.

I can see why you people think Musk's playing 5D chess, this is masterful stuff

The only way this makes any sense is if Musk is trying to sink twitter, which I'm sure will be the next post-hoc rationalisation of his desperately stupid ideas.
