NFT Poll

Post by mik »

Inspired by @Gavin's comments in the protest thread, but I'd like to dedicate this poll to @ZedLeg

My friends son bought a massively pixelated picture of a Gorilla for £18 and then sold it about 10 days later for £26

He was explaining the whole thing to me but I had consumed a lot of wine at this stage. It was starting to give me a headache to be honest. I realised that If I don't really understand CryptoCurrency then I'll never understand this.

So I said what I always do when some youf tries to talk to me about something I won't understand or will never care about which was "God, a dinosaur like me will never get this"

He accepted this and we both got on with our evenings.

I find it really strange but a lot of money is changing hands and it’s a world I know nothing about.

My mate bought a pair of gorillas which he bred and produced a new gorilla. Infinite money printer!
How about not having a sig at all?

I understand the concept which seems like a valid way to prove ownership of an item, however I'm also completely cynical about the overblown value of frankly terrible, mass produced 'artwork' that has typified the market. People have been taking the piss out of Damien Hirst for years, for mass producing crap artwork and selling it for bags, but he's got nothing compared to the identikit NFTs going for massive money.

Can't say I understand it at all. But then I don't get the point of crypto either.

I understand it and the technology behind it. I just think it’s a load of bollocks and people are willingly being had over a barrel.

Essentially (as I understand it) - purchasing "ownership" of a digital image held somewhere on the web.

I understand it, but it's the very definition of The Emperor's New Clothes. An absolute racket for gullible bellends with too much money.
Cheers,

Mike.

I see it no differently to buying a movie on Amazon Prime, with the NFT though it’s solely yours…….

Apart from every screengrab……
