I've not seen that seat trim style either, its subtle and nice... should wear well too. I hadn't noticed the interior trim until I went back to look at the seats. My word

Nice. Just how bad is the mpg? Ste had one at one point didn't he?

Regarding the door trim I don't like the handle being body coloured but I actually like it otherwise

It’s on air suspension so if I can get the normal driving height the same as the current access mode, and access mode a couple of inches lower, then I’ll be happy. To be able to carry 5 people and not fear for the tyres / exhaust / undertrays is the aim. I don’t need any actual off road abilities…

You can get adjustable links to trick the suspension control sensors, but apparently you can just recalibrate them with the right software.

Yeah, he had a grey one a while back. Two of the others in our retrorides gang have them too

It’s showing 22mpg at the moment, but had I forgot to reset the trip when I drove away. That was motorway cruising but also a fair bit of traffic in places and also stretching it’s legs when given the chance.

If it’ll do low 20s without having to baby it I won’t be too unhappy, not planning on using it every day.

Balls, I thought you were going to respond with a comment that it’s a big 4x4 and you don’t see any point lowering it…., my very bad.

Our Disco 3 and 4 were always dropped to access mode when we stopped - I am convinced this is part of the reason we never had any of the commmon suspension issues…., but the rear wheels had about 2Deg of neg camber when in access mode - no way I would have wanted to drive it in that config.

I'm sure I've seen it on an E65/E66 shape 760Li as well.

That's nice, not seen that interior trim before.

Really didn't like the E53 when they launched, now that every other car on the road is an SUV (and BMW design has truly gone off the rails) I've warmed to them a lot.

Same, I’ve started to appreciate the design as they’ve got older. They definitely don’t look as huge and obnoxious as they did at launch.

Jobbo, I’ve not checked to see whether it’s an individual, only had a quick scan around the engine bay when picking it up and forgot to look for a sticker. I’ve looked at plenty online over the past few months and it’s a very unusual spec!

I've always appreciated them for the unashamedly truck-like styling. Every iteration since (not just the X5, this applies to all the SUVs) has become more and more car-like. I'm not keen on the Cayenne post-957 for exactly that reason.

V8's good, colour is nice and the interior trim is nice, I actually like the door trims (piano black would be too austere in my opinion) but I think the handles need to be chromed silver, especially as paint will wear and look nasty really quickly with use.
Hope the read end is in good condition as lots of these seem to have a really cambered, possibly worn out look on the rear suspension. Does the 4.8 V8 suffer from the valve guide wear issues of the other V8's?

Basically e46 M3 dials by the looks of it!

I like the shape of the e53, though the only detail I dislike is the extra central body coloured spar on the front bumper above the number plate and below the grill.

I don’t think it’s even the ribbon cable, all the pixels are still there, it’s just the light fades away. I’m assuming they’re old fashioned backlit lcd strips like the e36 obc not self illuminating oled.

If they come out like every other bmw it should only take a couple of mins to have a look. Probably have spares in stock
