That's nice. Air-con? Is it a Japanese import?nuttinnew wrote: Mon Oct 24, 2022 10:12 pm Very high factory spec mk2 Golf 16v; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/354354065542 ... Sw3zNjVo7a
While the GTI Engineering alloys are rare, put that on a set of 15" Le Castellets (as found on the 1988 Campaign special edition GTIs) and it would look immensely better.
Re: The ebay thread

Re: The ebay thread
It's a Honda K20 but has K series written in pen on the cam cover by the looks of it

Re: The ebay thread
Oops, misread the ad - 'Honda K-series'

I don't know if import or not. Afaicr aircon was available over here, just rarely bought. 1988 Campaign Le Castellets were 14", the 15" were on the Rivage cabrio. The 14" are still forged goodness

The auction's been pulled so no idea what it went for

Oh well, I'll have to spend the imaginary on the G40.

It's always a shame people like this didn't have access to a better car to start with other than their grand old metro. Looks like a shit load of work has gone into this.

I did check my “cars I’d love to own” list, and a 466bhp FWD Metro didn’t appear.Rich B wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 8:37 am It's always a shame people like this didn't have access to a better car to start with other than their grand old metro. Looks like a shit load of work has gone into this.

While I couldn’t imagine spending that sort of money on one, I also imagine it’s an awful lot of fun. Would still be pocket money compared to what a lot of people spend on old minis, and you could argue the metro is a better platform to start with.
Needs a most subtle intercooler though.
Because the entire engine / transmission / steering / suspension is attached to one big drop out subframe it makes it very easy to mock up or make mounts for pretty much anything that will physically fit.
There are a few Honda conversions and some vag 1.8t motors about. Some people are also getting decent power out of the rover k-series turbo now.
To a lot of people the car it’s attached to is incidental, it’s just something the engine is bolted into. If it gets crashed or falls to bits they just bung it in something else.

Re: The ebay thread
I think just painting the intercooler black would work. Nearly five hundred hp through the front wheels is a bit much but the simple solution would be to move the subframe into the middle

An absolute unit
Re: The ebay thread
It might take SJ and integrale_evo to get that. At least some of the storage space lost to it could be recouped by parking inside, and under the wings could provide better shelter for things that used to be parked outside. The Clubman's tank of mixed fuel would also find a new home to get lost in.
