Did you feel the same way about Gordon Brown (Personal Wealth in excess of £15m) while he tackled the crisis back in 2007 ?
I'd suggest not...

Time will tell. He can't be worse than Boris and Truss IMO.
Quite a jump from £15m to £800m or whatever it is that the Sunaks are worth. Anyway whataboutism is lazy, I was only 23 in 2007 but I don't remember being particularly supportive of Blair and Brown. I took part in the stop the war protests.
Yeah, I feel like being born just as Thatcher and Reagan were beginning to ruin UK and US politics was a personal attack tbh.
There's probably a better argument but I'm hoping someone else will do it...ZedLeg wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:18 amQuite a jump from £15m to £800m or whatever it is that the Sunaks are worth. Of course there are very few eras and countries that you will like a whole lot more than this TBH. It's an interesting question actually, politically speaking where and when do you think was the promised land?ZedLeg wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:19 amYeah, I feel like being born just as Thatcher and Reagan were beginning to ruin UK and US politics was a personal attack tbh.
I think that is a huge positive. We may have what they consider the third best PM they can find, but not having JRM seemingly running the show is a huge step up.mik wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 3:15 pm One positive at least - Mogg out

I don't know why he was ever in! Does this mean we can do away with all this changing of the units nonsense?mik wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 3:15 pm One positive at least - Mogg out

He's hugely influential in the think tanks that make policy. It was him pushing the fracking stuff. He was like Boris in that he seems like a joke but he did damage behind the scenes.duncs500 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:12 pmI don't know why he was ever in! I have no doubt he did damage. I think we can all agree that he has no place being part of running a country. The people of North East Somerset should be ashamed of themselves!ZedLeg wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:23 pmHe's hugely influential in the think tanks that make policy. Yeah I was surprised by this as well to be honest. He's never shown himself to be much cop at anything has he?Jobbo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:19 pm Well he's fucked it immediately - Raab back as justice secretary. He was inept at that and rapidly shown up by the departing Brandon Lewis, who achieved far more in his 7 week tenure than Raab did in the preceding year.
We'll be back into pie-in-the-sky idealist ignorance from the randoms who form the Cabinet in no time. I thought the title to this thread was overly pessimistic... a day ago when Ian posted it. Now it seems appropriate. A day is a long time in politics...
He is truly inept - I struggled to think of the particularly amusing gaffes (being on the beach while Afghanistan was evacuated wasn't funny) so I googled and there are '10 worst Raab cock-ups' in all the media outlets each year back to 2017 on the first page Skin like a rhinoceros clearly. Probably ideal Tory leader candidate come November 2024...Swervin_Mervin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 4:53 pmYeah I was surprised by this as well to be honest.
