Cleaning car drains
Cleaning car drains
Who really is responsible for this on mainly convertibles?
I would say the owner so how come this got paid out?

She's obviously never owned an mx5.
Re: Cleaning car drains
The leakage caused extensive damage to electrical components and wiring and experts later said it was then worth only around £8,500.

I've got wet feet from unblocking the drains on Exwife2's Mx5s and emptying the door of the jag which had started to slosh about a bit.

If she had just bought it then it’s fair. If she had parked under a tree for months then no it’s not fair.
Do modern manuals still say to check drains are clear ?
Dave!

Re: Cleaning car drains
Would anyone buying a convertible even think to check them? Even if it was mentioned in the manual, who even reads those these days?
Feels like its one of those things that warrants a big sticker on the windscreen if you buy a brand new car where you need to do this.

Can that even happen though? Seems pretty extreme regardless of whatever maintenance she's done or not done? But the first time she left it parked outside of her garage, Mrs Kynaston-Mainwaring was stunned to find the car's footwell full of rainwater.
Cheers,

Re: Cleaning car drains
I'm sure no-one would be so silly as to not do that.
*gets flashbacks to draining about 10L of water from the rear of the BMW after using an unwound wire coathook to unclog the drains*
No-one.
Re: Cleaning car drains
This thread reminded me to do mine - having bought a trombone cleaner months ago it was finally time to whip it out.
I can't understand how people get blocked drains - surely its possible to have a look at them and go ooooh theres a leaf I best move it? Of maybe that's common sense and noone has any these days.
