Strange how no one seems to be clear on the cause. Truck bomb is current suggestion, especially given that the truck was purportedly coming from the Russian side into Ukraine, and suicide bombings are definitely something Russia would do, less likely to be a Ukraine tactic.

But then it's also feasible that the fuel train next to the road span was bombed.

Be interesting to see what the eventual cause is determined to be.

Regardless, the Russian trolls are saying that this marks the next step of Russian escalation, that there real war starts now etc.

Which is kinda sad as the last time they said that, Russia got fucking routed out of large chunks of Ukraine

It's not the style of Ukraine government, but potentially partisan work. There's been enough stories of entire families wiped out. Not beyond the realms of possibility that someone who's lost everything because of the war might be willing to die for something this spectacular.

Although actually acquiring a whole truck's worth of explosives and then waltzing through Russian border security onto the bridge.... hmmm. That doesn't seem very amateur.

It's all very very interesting.

....from the Russian side, to boot.

"Our nazi enemies established a base in russia, sourced enough explosives to fill a lorry, drove that lorry to the bridge, got past our security and detonated it" isn't a story that RU can spin to their favour.

These ukranian people are sub-human sub-educated nazis, remember. They need russian re-education for their own good!

Poor innocents on the bridge taken out by it, you can only hope they knew nothing about it.

Belated Happy Birthday, Vlad. You probably thought they'd forgotten.

Seems more likely it'll be clearing house of those who aren't loyal to the regime, rather than a coup.

Remember, the police are a state tool and are loyal. The military are untrusted and treated like scum.

Current thinking is that the bridge was blown up by a boat drone. Bridges are designed to take pressure from above and wind pressure from the sides but not from below. a boat exploding directly underneath the bridge will cause way more damage than a tanker exploding on top.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

I'm on team missile for this one. The evidence to date is certainly inconclusive though.

"Oh no, he's been on the toilet duck again"

Lots of people making lots of suggestions about the bridge incident but nothing really conclusive that I've seen. Suggestions have included independent partisan action (IE truck bomb) but that still doesn't explain how they got through security - unless it was woefully incompetent, of course.

There's still no way it plays well for Russia though, so that's a bonus.

I'm finding it very difficult to garner much interest in following this war. It seems like every single piece of news is denied or claimed by both sides with the "facts" being simply whatever side you're most interested in it being.
Every time there's a significant event it's either a meme, a sketch, a mistranslation, propaganda or just plain made up.

How the hell have you guys managed to get any idea on what's actually happening?!
