Tolman Sunbeam Lotus

Post by mik »

As a big Lotus Sunny fan - I do like this. 8-) (Although I’d never spend that much).

I was thinking it'd be a silly price like £80k. But no

That car looks amazing. I guess I'm at that age where it doesn't take much to get the sense of nostalgia going. So I'm in!

*checks price*

Holy fuck.
Cheers,

Mike.

I thought all of these “recreation” things were £200k+ ? The only new thing here is that it’s not a Porsche  I’m not the slightest bit surprised at the price.

I'm never that convinced when they do the high end restomod thing with these types of cars. Mostly because my deluded brain is convinced that I could build something similar

The only exception is that carbon two door Integrale, that is porn.

I'd guess build cost +50% as the price - all that custom work by people who know their shit ain't cheap. Hell, 130bhp/litre ain't cheap by itself.

Does seem like a lot for a Sunbeam but I imagine someone will buy it.

I hate the delta ones probably more than any of the others 🤣

The only one with a serious wow factor for me is the 037 recreation, and the stratos they made a few of a while back.

Yeah, I’d happily pay £250k for that 037 though it’s entirely new, IIRC, not a restomod or recreation - an homage, perhaps. And I bet it’ll be much more than £250k.

£10k for the Sunbeam pedal box though… 😂

As I understand the article, they've been built at a customer's (or customers') request and the company are nabbing some publicity from them "look what we can build", rather than making them then trying to find buyers. Don't want one with a £10k pedal box, £10k electronics, etc? I'm sure they could accommodate you :)
