Road Trip!!

Post by Delphi »

So my local branch of TIPEC (The Independent Porsche Enthusiasts Club - like PCGB but with nice people) have organised a trip to Germany next May.

Day 1 (17/5/23 Wed) - Drive to Hull board the overnight Ferry to Rotterdam (20.30 arrive 08:30 on the 18th)

Day 2 (18/5/23 Thu) - Rotterdam to Stuttgart. Stay at the V8 Classic Motorworld Hotel

Day 3 (19/5/23 Fri) - Porsche Factory Tour and Museum, afterwards drive to Speyer, stay at the Hotel Speyer am Technik Museum

Day 4 (20/5/23 Sat) - Visit the Speyer Technik Museum and head to Rhineland near Koblenz

Day 5 (21/5/23 Sun) - Koblenz to Rotterdam arriving for the overnight return Ferry (20:30- arrive 7.30on the 22nd)

Day 6 (22/5/23 Mon) - Arrive home mid-morning

Ferry crossing and hotels booked. Can't wait!
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

I'm guessing that you're taking the 928 and not the wife! Sounds like a fun time. Koblenz was lovely when i visited in.....erm....1988?

I asked the wife if she wanted to go, but she wasn't interested!

Definitely taking the 928 - it'll be nice to use it for its intended purpose of continental grand touring.

Day 1 (17/5/23 Wed) - Attempt to Drive to Hull board the overnight Ferry to Rotterdam. Break down. Await recovery.

Day 2 (18/5/23 Thu) - Recovery arrives. Takes car to local specialists.

Day 3 (19/5/23 Fri) - Its fucked. Return home

Day 4 (20/5/23 Sat) - Re-evaluate life choices and start drinking heavily.

Day 5 (21/5/23 Sun) - Repeat...

Day 6 (22/5/23 Mon) - Haze..

Was just at the Porsche museum yesterday, it's cool. Mercedes Benz is more in depth, both good though.

We've just finished a day at the 'Ring, heading back tmrw. All done in Coasters GT3😎

I thought the intended purpose of any 928 was to consume all the owner's money? ;)

Half day from Koblenz to Rotterdam (unless you get lost in Koblenz, which I have 3 from 3 trips) leaves a nice gap for a few laps of the Ring. 8-)

Sounds like fun. 8-)

FWIW I always found the PCGB guys in the 944 section were very friendly/helpful/knowledgeable, but I have heard similar comparisons with TIPEC from others......

I think it varies from region to region, but all the guys I've spoken to about the Yorkshire region (not just TIPEC members) have said that the local PCGB lot are your stereotypical all for show types who turn their noses up at anything that isn't a 911. Met a guy in my local sandwich shop the other day with a 996 C4 Cab and he was only in PCGB for the fuel discount they get. He went to a couple of local meets and he said it was full of braying "considerably richer than you" types.
