And he still spends most of his time playing, alone, in his parents' garden. He must be about 9 or 10 years old ? Definitely not old enough to get a job yet.dinny_g wrote: Tue Sep 27, 2022 9:53 am Time moves on SJ...

Re: The Watches Thread
I just got a £10 rubber strap from AliExpress for one of my San Martin watches
Even that came with a stainless steel butterfly clasp - not a cheap-ass pin/tang type of buckle on the strap (that'll likely ruin the strap as you put it on/off every day)
Complete marketing rip-off IMO

Re: The Watches Thread
Have you compared the cost of a Rolex strap with an Apple Hermes one?
Re: The Watches Thread
Show me a Rolex strap which fits on an Apple Watch. Might need it as the leather on this is so soft I can’t see it lasting long. I guess that’s why they give the “complimentary” rubber one.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The Watches Thread
It’s a watch strap - compare like with like. The Hermes straps are a rip off.
Should probably be renamed Evri by now anyway

Re: The Watches Thread
wait, you pay extra for a normal apple watch to get a posh strap, but the posh strap isn't really suitable to use so comes with a cheap rubber one to use instead?Mito Man wrote: Tue Sep 27, 2022 6:30 pm Show me a Rolex strap which fits on an Apple Watch. You can definitely tell it's not your own money you're spending!

Posh strap for work/fancy stuff and rubber strap for sports stuff. Should last longer like that.

"Here's your very very expensive watch strap that's not very good as an actual watch strap. So we're also giving you this cheap rubber one to make up for the very very expensive one being a bit crap."

I like this

The problem is the seller only opens his online shop every couple of weeks or so and then closes it once he has 200 orders. This literally takes a couple of minutes so it can be very frustrating trying to buy a watch from him

That Smiths is a bit of a "mutt" (albeit a nice looking mutt)
Vintage diver + Explorer numerals + Tudor-esque "riveted"/5 link bracelet
Reminds me a bit of the San Martin I got a while back, although for overall cohesiveness, I do prefer the San Martin

Like many watches around now I suppose you could say it takes styling cues from other models but perhaps they prefer inspired by

Re: The Watches Thread
Well I managed to order one. The online shop opened at 14.00 and closed just after 14.02 when 200 orders were reached, not all for that particular watch though. The only problem is that my wife has taken quite a shine to it.
Re: The Watches Thread
I'm surprised our resident Christopher Ward aficionado @mik hasn't already been posting about the stunning Bel Canto. It kind of has a resemblance of a Bulova Acutron to me, but also has some high end Moser vibes. Probably not the sort of watch I'd wear day to day, but I kind of want one
Re: The Watches Thread
The review really sells it, but it's pretty cool.
Re: The Watches Thread
@Pete_ I marked it up as “interesting” as opposed to desirable (to me).
300 being made. Pre-order all sold. (Edit: sold out in around 8hrs according to the forum).

Can’t post a link as it’s a protected tweet, but I find myself rather very jealous of this!
