M2 is in for its end of manufacturer warranty check and MOT which means courtesy car roulette time.

Courtesy car for the day is a fairly new 320d which is very nice indeed. Nice torquey engine and the gearbox is much smoother in first and reverse than on the M2 - I think its the ZF one rather than DCT.

Its got everything-assist which is a bit unnerving when you pull out on the motorway only to feel some pushback from the steering wheel saying "I don't think you should do that". Its been a very long time since I drove a BMW with a 2 litre engine and it really does feel like its more than fast enough for anyone who isn't interested in an M car.

Interior is nice and its the generation before the new LCI refresh, so its got a nice-sized nav screen without going full-on curved widescreen monitor of the newest cars. I definitely prefer the look of the older one as the new system just looks like someone ripped the instrument cluster out and popped a monitor from PC World on top without any attempt to even make it look like it was designed to be like that.

I've no idea how much one of these costs but I bet it seems like an awful lot because I've basically turned in to Victorian Dad when looking at the price of cars recently.

Apparently I bought the wrong spring for the car.

But as I bought and fitted the wrong spring last year for the other side, it's fine.

Fingers crossed I was a bit more accurate with the brake parts :lol:

Getting the correct springs I found to be a right PITA when I did the fronts on mine. And even once I'd narrowed it down, I found that there are 2 sub-codes even for the 330i and yet only 1 replacement spring available from either Sachs or Bilstein...Never got to the bottom of what the difference in sub-codes meant despite many hours of googling.

Yep, bmw spring codes seem absurd, different coloured blobs and part numbers depending on year, model, options specced, position of the planet at manufacture etc, yet go to eibach and by a set of off the shelf springs and they’re fine :lol:

Yeah, and Merc seems the same. I deliberately bought the “wrong” springs for the Vito as they were cheaper and crucially, in stock, and it’s been totally fine.

The springs for my XF were OE only, and the same price each as a full set of Eibachs :roll:

If I could have coped with a 25mm drop I'd have done it!

My brake parts are fine, but two hard lines are getting a bit fucked (which I knew of one, and warned them about).

Also the rear lights are flicking with the hazards on, but I think that's a low battery thing - that battery is on it's way out.

Front control arm bushes are iffy (they all do that) but that's not on the MOT sheet interestingly - I want to replace them with polys or Z4M bushes (same fitment, stiffer rubber)

so all in all a moderately annoying one, but I've got some money coming in from something I did for a mate so I think I can stretch to most of the above without doing a 'heating or eating' month.

The Evora has little carpet mats at each side (yes I know - unnecessary weight) held in place with these lozenge shaped clips that go through the mat and you turn them 90degrees to LOCK them in place.

The drivers side - aka my side - which has been occupied for 100% of the miles driven… is absolutely fine. :geek:

The passengers side - aka not my side - which has been occupied for around 15% of the miles driven…. has two (out of a total of two) broken clips. God damned no-longer-kids clumping in and out. :(

Just ordered replacements from Loltus for an eye-watering £0.61 PER CLIP! :shock: It’s no wonder people run humdrum stuff when the price of parts for sportzcarz is so ludicrous. :evil:

928 has had its annual service. Nothing major reported apart from a slightly weepy diff and a tiny leak from one of the rocker covers. When I got back home the engine mounts I'd ordered over 2 weeks ago were sat on the kitchen worktop. :evil:

I've replaced the corroded jump post with a brand new one and installed a new cover for it. Fixed the sunroof motor cover by fitting some custom metal brackets to replace the broken plastic ones. Just need to fit the new fuel sender and book it in for the engine mounts. I'd originally wanted them doing ready for Porsches On The Park on the 26th but there's no way I'll get them done before then.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Ferrari had its MOT, all fine with no advisories. However, the check engine light came in as I drove away.. hopefully it’ll be gone when I start it again! 😁 #cositalian

Noisy? I thought the exhaust was blowing on my twin air when I first drove it but apparently, they all do that sir.

I noticed that the Z4 is starting to slip at the rear, even under light acceleration. A quick check confirms the rears have only last for 7,000 miles which isn't bad going considering the first 1,200 were running in. My local garage quoted £420 for a pair of 19" pilot super sport fitted which isn't bad. I was considering swapping for Pilot Sport 4S as im sure they add to the magic of the Yaris, but Im not a fan of mixing tyres so will wait until I am replacing all 4.

Its booked for the weekend, just need to find somewhere to burn the last few mm, all in the spirit of learning the cars limits :)

Noisy? I thought the exhaust was blowing on my twin air when I first drove it but apparently, they all do that sir.
Its noticeably smoother and less obviously a Twin but still has an odd exhaust sound.

Yes, its wireless CarPlay rather than wired, even if you plug your phone in to the USB port, so the antenna just makes sure there's a good wireless signal to use. I just went ahead and ordered everything for ease in the end (though thanks for the offer!). Everything arrived so I quickly sorted it today.

Fitting the aerial was an easy 5 minute job, but uploading the software should have been easier except for the fact I don't have a new enough laptop with an Ethernet socket (my old 2009 Samsung which I've used for various similar hacks didn't work which was annoying).

In the end, I took my work docking station (with Ethernet socket) out to the car with an extension cable to power it and managed to use my work laptop. Once all connected it was again, an easy 5 minute job!

New coffee machine incoming. My trusty DeLonghi has become incontinent from several places :( It served extremely well though, I bought it s/h way back in 2017 and apart from when I've been on holiday I think it's been used every day since. On that basis I have justified myself a brand-new machine :shock:

Based on minimal research and being swayed by the snappy naming I've opted for a Siemens TE651209GB. (and Argos promise same day delivery).

This may be the forum’s first fleet coffee machine. I am not sure if your are about to set a new trend - t-shirt and tie combination. :?

Pretty much :D The first was jarring, this one is just slightly annoying.
