He was shouting "Dirty Old Man" at Andrew as they walked past.

The missus and I are going into London on Friday to lay flowers on Friday. I expect the queue for Westminster Hall will be way to long but you never know. I'd like to see the coffin and pay my respects

It was suggested he might have been yelling at Andrew, whether or not it's true it's not the time for it.

Are they well known for cracking down on people that mouth off at people who are in a cortege of a dead relative?

I am talking more generally, Ive read about instances of protests becoming public order offences.

In this case, its not something I would do myself or condone, but if you look at it another way you have 2 big fat lads assaulting some skinny little kid for opening his mouth.

I have to say that charging protestors with breach of the peace is over the top imo.

Fine, if they want to move them on or confiscate signs but being charged with a crime for protesting is heavy handed.

More generally, I'd agree. Not appropriate imo and over the top.

As for the mouthy journo - the old adage of act like a twat, get treated like a twat holds.

In general then yes but there’s a time and a place for protest and this isn’t it

I disagree but it still stands that I don’t think that the charging is necessary. What’s the point?

Preventing the very few spoiling the memories of the majority ?

He wasn’t standing there with an important sign about climate change or some such. He was shouting Dirty Old Man over and over again.

What exactly was he protesting about??

Charging protestors with breach of the peace meets the definition for it perfectly well so I'm not sure what's heavy handed about it?

He’s not the only one who’s been charged. Like I said, I’m not saying they shouldn’t be moved on or whatever but charging them seems unnecessarily punitive.

Just my opinion though.

exactly, we should all be free to shout insults at a funeral procession, no matter who's it is. It's what our grandfathers fought for.

I have to say I'd prefer to make my last journey in a Jaguar hearse and not a Merc E-class hearse. Love the alloys on Her Maj's final ride. What are they from?

Ah, I have identified them as OEM 20" Amirante alloys. They look larger in diameter than 20". Never seen them on an X351.

JIC, nice looking machine.

Strange they didn't fly that car up there for the journey from Balmoral, but Southerners usually get the best of things I suppose ;)

Used to be an option on X358 Super V8s, never seen them on anything else.

Edit, slightly different to X350 ones, look awful on non-hearse XJs!

This isn't the same as aunty pat down the local crem followed by a few sandwiches in her local. Its a huge political state affair and not about the individual, it's about the monarchy. If she got the same funeral as everyone else, I'd agree with you.
