Over on a cycling forum I use, a chap has just said that engines on modern cars are sealed and can only be repaired by going back to the manufacturer.

He's not entirely wrong. Engines are sealed otherwise all the oil would run out (unless you've got a BMW in which case it is mostly sealed).

Confuse them by asking where to send your Land Rover defender that has a ford engine, or your rover that has a bmw engine, or your mini that has a Peugeot engine in it etc
