Kittens
I’m house sitting for a mate which includes cat sitting and also kitten sitting.
The cats are fairly low maintenance- feed them a couple of times a day and they’re grand.
The kittens I am less sure about. They are 4-5 weeks old now and just starting to wean. They have run of the spare room but I think they might be a bit under stimulated. Anyone have any advice?
Pics to follow of course

Re: Kittens
They will want to play and climb on things. We give them ping pong balls or similar, and they love sticks with ribbons on (which requires you to play with them).

Fuck that - why are they going away when they have 4-5 week old kittens?!

That's what I thought the thread was going to be about tbh! Same thoughts here...Rich B wrote: Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:16 pm Fuck that - why are they going away when they have 4-5 week old kittens?!
If there's more than one they should at least be playing together which will tire them out. And exploring, climbing.
TBH you can't go wrong with something on a string to chase, cats love that shit. Kittens will generally chase something on a string until they literally fall asleep where they are.
Catnip? They'll go nuts then collapse in a heap.
Cheers,
Mike.

Unplanned pregnancy on a free range cat, and a holiday booked months in advance. Yeah I never said they were the most diligent owners. I was originally booked to house sit as they have builders in and the insurance needs someone present.Rich B wrote: Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:16 pm Fuck that - why are they going away when they have 4-5 week old kittens?!
Pics coming…
Re: Kittens
I think the only sensible advice is for you to take them home with you.

Re: Kittens
Joking aside, they will be up for adoption in a couple of months when ready to leave mum...
Re: Kittens
Can't believe no one has mentioned the old sack/brick combo

Some recommendations from my wife - all currently on sale at Pets At Home:

And catnip mice - ours are about 6 weeks here:

Re: Kittens
I was going to say fishing but thought it may be construed thus
When my friends's cats had kittens I used a bamboo pole with some wool dangling from it and a feathery toy at the end to keep them amused. It was a bit like fly fishing I guess, and even when they realised I was making things move they snapped back to hunting the fluffy thing; kept them/us entertained for hours.
Re: Kittens
How fucking big is that!?
Re: Kittens
It’s got a sisal covering so kittens can get up it easily. Here’s ours with some kittens playing on it, next to a fully grown cat for scale:
