4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
I don’t think his has the openable flaps but it’s essentially the same thing.
Make sure what you get is washable as most of their smell
Should be kept in the material and it’s easy to clean.

Cheers I'll get one ordered.
Where did everyones dogs sleep when they were pups? Ours will have to sleep upstairs as the cat sleeps downstairs, but I'm not sure if that will be in a crate or a bed?

Similar but without the end flaps, I’d get that one though to protect your doors.16vCento wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:38 pm Like this one;

Maya slept in a crate as she would chew anything if left out. She cried for the first few nights but you have to stick with it. She isn’t allowed upstairs as they can develop joint problems so we don’t want her using the stairs.16vCento wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:34 pm Cheers I'll get one ordered.

Yep, sleep the dog downstairs, the cat and dog will learn to tolerate each other.

Fellow never had a dog person here. Get yourself a book, I got the dog Haynes manual
That suggested crate training and our lab seems very happy in there. I've finally got used to it as well now, thought it was cruel at first

Dog owner moan……
When did it become the norm for dogs on heat to be walked as normal ? It was never done years ago as it’s not fair on male dogs. Now the norm seems to be chopping the balls off maybe it’s not seen as bad form ?
I never noticed it as Flash and Cooper would rather chase a ball or sniff the ground but Hutch goes mad when he smells a dog on heat. It’s proving a genuine pain and I’m at the point where when someone tells me to call my dog back I’ll just leave him to sniff

2 weeks until pup time
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Have you got plenty of toys, they get through them! Oh and avoid squeaky if you want to keep your sanity! When he/she decides on a favourite get some duplicates.
Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
Out before too much sun this morning, met a Jack Russell/English Bull Terrier mix. Lovely wee thing enjoying the shade and coolness, seemed utterly content, and happy to say hello to a stranger
I bet she's not so calm and relaxed when the weather is better suited to fetch & running

Sadie is being spayed tomorrow, expecting her to hate vets from this point on...
Re toys, don't bother with cheap ones. We've found Kong branded ones to be good so far.

Mine have been housebound today and probably for the next couple of days, poor buggers do not tolerate the heat well.

Took ours out for a swim and pub lunch, he was fine before it got too hot. Quick 2k walk this evening after it had dropped to sub-20.

Neither do St Bernard’s but Maya doesn’t grasp it. She keeps bringing toys in from the garden wanting me to throw them for her. I filled the pool we got for her with water and she just drinks it!V8Granite wrote: Mon Jul 11, 2022 9:15 pm Mine have been housebound today and probably for the next couple of days, poor buggers do not tolerate the heat well.

The Guide Dog pups all got crated and I'm a convert to that approach now. Its their own safe space and they'll ask out to do their business at night etc.16vCento wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:34 pmWhere did everyones dogs sleep when they were pups? Can you not just put the crate downstairs? Leave a radio on for some background noise at night with them? Cat can keep an eye on them!
Cheers,
Mike.

Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
With my old mini poodle he slept downstairs, we tried a crate which we'd put within a pen but he literally would not go in the crate if we were around. He was a ridiculously clever and mischevious pooch, nothing would get him in there and he was not influenced by food if he'd made his mind up about something.16vCento wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:34 pm Cheers I'll get one ordered.

Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report
We are now people of Dog.
Picked her up in Durham at 10 am, she was only sick once on the way home, helpfully all over the wife
She's AWSUME
Had 2 meals and one poop since she's been home and she has settled in remarkably well.
She already knows her name and is following us all around wherever we go.
