Afternoon meetings

The only meeting I want to have at 2pm in this heat is with the inside of my eyelids

We have a 1615hrs support catch-up on a daily basis (just dishing tickets out/triaging etc) to finish the day off, more or less.

It was...a bit giddy today

I mimed shooting myself in the head with an IR thermometer at one point, which was well received because I think everyone is going a bit potty today.

Giddy... that's about right.

I absolutely love this weather, I just don't like working in it, my brain turns into jelly

I'm going to melt when I get back home, right? Pleasant 22c in Copenhagen today.

One of the reps thought they'd book a call with a partner at 5 (again) today. I said I'd mute out and keep my camera off, so I stuck the laptop on a patio chair and climbed into the pool for 30 minutes instead.

Try doing a physical job, I’d gladly sit on my arse when it’s like this

This is good prep for me. Off to Seville at the weekend. It's a bit toasty at 42C

Yeah, but it's different heat, TikTok is full of people explaining why UK heat hits so differently and it's all true. I bet the 35ºC forecast in London next Monday will feel far more debilitating than 42ºC in Seville

Anyway, I got up just before 5am today and have hammered through work all morning, so am going to read a book and have a nice hefty snooze in a hammock in the garden this afternoon.

Sort of, yes. We've been before in June 11yrs ago, and it was nowhere near 42C - maybe high 30s. And yet the strength of the sun was mind-boggling. You absolutely couldn't stand still for long.

Makes you wonder why TF we booked this time to go at hte very hottest time of the year when even the locals leave

Adjourned outside for a bit, which was great in some shade until the sun came round about 4:30pm and started to roast the back of my neck. Not sure I'd want to risk a laptop/pool interaction but if the forecast for early next week holds out I might give it a go.

Can confirm that wearing a damp teatowel on your head whilst a fan blows air in your general direction is a very effective strategy for keeping cool whilst working in the late afternoon/evening.

I removed some personal insulation yesterday - trimmed beard, shaved head.

I bet it doesn't help a jot.

But I now look like a thumb.
