Purchased last month for $700k... Ouch! Reading the article the driver claims it's nothing to do with not knowing how to drive a manual.

Not related, and the accident isn't current, but this did pop up in my twatter feed yesterday....

aka the "the dog ate my homework" defence.Though police say the car was not registered or insured when the crash occurred, Guarini claims the car was covered under an umbrella policy and that he just didn't have the documentation available when the crash happened.
And he was already banned from driving...Guarini was issued a citation for driving with a suspended license...

Although I'll accept that old tyres and mud on the road will cause a loss of control in certain situations (I doubt there was that much mud on the road in Boca Raton) and old tyres aren't likely to let go at 35mph unless you are being a complete cock. I am failing to see how having a car detailed can cause an accident, I guess there is the old test your brakes after leaving a car wash but this wouldn't seem to be brake related.
Seems like a 'watch this' and then ran out of talent moment.

If you put tyre shine *all over* the tyre including the tread I guess it could make it slippery, but that would be very very stupid.drcarlos wrote: Tue May 03, 2022 10:26 am I am failing to see how having a car detailed can cause an accident...
But then, driving an unregistered, uninsured car whilst banned from driving is pretty stupid too so who knows ?

I did think about that but then the very, very stupid position came to me and I thought, surely no detailer could be that stupid?Sundayjumper wrote: Tue May 03, 2022 10:31 amIf you put tyre shine *all over* the tyre including the tread I guess it could make it slippery, but that would be very very stupid.drcarlos wrote: Tue May 03, 2022 10:26 am I am failing to see how having a car detailed can cause an accident...

There's definitely more to the story.

Seems mad that they don’t have a separate test or training to drive a manual because the vast majority seem totally useless in them.
I guess it would be some sort of infringement on their constitutional rights or something

I’m guessing he was accelerating hard and still on part throttle whilst changing from 1st to 2nd, this then resulted in the typical muscle car trait of the rears spinning up and the car exiting stage at 45 degrees into the nearest tree/street light.
How about not having a sig at all?
