Tommy Sauce

Post by mik »

I still haven’t forgiven Mrs Mik for making both our kids ketchup addicts.

I put the wicked red substance on burgers. Nothing else.

Anyone that favours Tommy sauce over HP on a sausage is absolutely a deviant. Period.

On the TV tonight they showed someone squeezing some into a freshly opened packet of crisps. WTF is wrong with you??

On a plate, ketchup to go with the bacon, chips and eggs too.
On a sandwich - brown sauce (preferably HP).

Ah takes me back to when I first visited New York. Went to Tommy's Italian and Tommy himself offered me his special sauce. I asked him where's the pomodoro, this is white! Told me his white sauce is what makes it special.
How about not having a sig at all?

Interesting.

Although bacon gets ground pepper only. No sauce.

I find I use Frank's Hot more than anything else nowadays.

It makes Potato Waffles and Beans a bit more interesting.

The Sauce Shop ketchup is good, actually tastes of tomato. Goes well on the bottom layer of a burger, burger sauce on top layer.

I used to be solidly for HP sauce on a sausage roll but I'll occasionally mix it up with ketchup or Sriracha if I'm feeling spicy these days.

Also a fan of Bulldog sauce but it's quite expensive here.

When I was a kid I was banned from handling the ketchup bottle after turning my dinner into tommy-k soup on more than one occasion. I'd have it on everything, from noodles to roast dinner.

Luckily, I matured and now only have it on chips (obvs), burgers, sausages :P or bacon

Ketchup is good on burgers (although other sauces can work), hot dogs, and fish finger sandwiches. I go either way on bacon / sausage sandwiches, can have HP, ketchup or no sauce depending on how I'm feeling.

On most other things ketchup can be a bit plain in comparison to something with chilli in or bbq.

My missus will put ketchup on plates of food it has absolutely no place on (assume it's a Polish thing).

A bacon sandwich needs ketchup. A sausage sandwich needs brown sauce. A bacon and sausage sandwich gives me anxiety.

Mik is 100% correct. No Sauce on bacon (or indeed Sausages)

However, ground pepper on a Bacon Sandwich is just weird.

A tiny bit of mustard works well in a bacon sandwich.

Tomato ketchup works well with an omelette too.

Psycho, bacon NEVER has tomato sauce, only BBQ.

Frankly, the internet is too small to fully study the nuances of condiment use.

It’s like writing Boobs into Google, it’ll never end.

Ketchup is used occasionally for Chips although I'm quite partial to a Chilly Mayo or a Garlic Mayo from time to time

Also used in combination with Cheapo American Squirt Mustard on certain types of burger. I can't think of another use for it to be honest.

But it must be Wikin and Sons Ketchup
