Bumps and breaks
Just had an eventful evening, I got home and my little boy had had a tumble off the arm of the sofa. He looked in a bit of pain but was tucked up in bed so fingers crossed he'd be ok.
An hour of so later he woke again and didn't look too happy - I got a chance to check him over this time and it was pretty clear he had a broken collar bone... we rang up 111 and they agreed, so it was off to a&e for an x ray.
Annoyingly it's one parent only in a&e, so I've been in the waiting room/car for the last 6 hours, but he's finally out of a&e - apparently he's been in damn good spirits the whole time, entertaining everyone, but he's got to avoid sports for 6 weeks and take it really easy for the first 2 weeks. That'll be fun! Poor little chap!

Re: Bumps and breaks
Ouch. Gws miniRich, hopefully without too much discomfort.
Re: Bumps and breaks
ooyah! Rubbish when your nipper hurts themselves, glad he seems to be toughing it!

It's crushing seeing to kids hurt but he sounds like a trouper

Re: Bumps and breaks
Trouper: an actor or other entertainer, typically one with long experience (member of a troupe)
Trooper: a soldier of low rank in the cavalry or in an armoured regiment in the army.
Re: Bumps and breaks
It's terrible when they actually hurt themselves...

Ouch. We've been spared serious injuries so far. Get well soon! Official (not) medical advice (really isn't) is loads of ice cream. Best medicine.

How high is your sofa ?? Kids normally bounce, that’s real bad luck to break something

Re: Bumps and breaks
He’s up today and enjoying the paw patrol movie! As breaks go, the collar bone seems pretty mild at least, he doesn’t seem in too much discomfort at all when sat or standing which is a big relief. We’re fucking knackered though - having gone to bed at 5:30 this morning!
Apparently he’s stacked it head first off the arm/back of the sofa somehow and obviously put his arms out to save his face hitting the floor! Classic mountain bikers injury….!

Ouch! GWS mini-B. We've been pretty lucky so far in that regard, but then mini-Merv seems to be fairly risk averse, so doesn't seem to get himeself into danger much.
Although I am grateful for having relatively blunt kitchen knives as I came into the kitchen once to see his mum letting him chop ingredients for a cake with the biggest knife we have!

Ouch. Well done on spotting it. Wishing him well getting over it and back to the sports.
Left over crest; tightens.

If he's anything like my son it will be the first of many. We kicked off with his older sister throwing a hair dryer in the bath with him when he was about 2

GWS MiniB. I'm sure he'll be back climbing on the sofa again before you know it.

Re: Bumps and breaks
Disappointed there's no shock absorber or caliper rebuild action in this thread.
Kids are fairly indestructible from all the stories I've heard of from parents so I imagine he'll be fine

Get well soon mini human.
I’m of the mind you hide them from nothing and just teach them how to do it properly. They are bound to find a knife, hammer, climb up something or other eventually.
Dave!

Today is when we discovered that Dave! is training his kids in the Thunderdome.
Hopefully your kid is a bit luckier than I was Rich, I used to give myself injuries serious enough to merit a hospital visit at least once or twice a year from about 6 until I was about 16
