Yes we went last year and I am hooked! I made sure the brakes were upgraded before I ever went as without a rcs master, racing fluid, pads and lines it would have been as you probably remember fucking dangerous

I've been pretty lucky with it not going wrong. Its still only on 7k miles so probably an indication its not been ridden unless its nice out

My fleet is fine yeah, just given Fazer its winter service, new boots, MOT - 82k miles on it now. Street is under cover, waiting for nicer weather. Tenere on about 8k miles now, just had some cheap Avons (couldn't get Pirellis at the time). Planning a few days in Scottishland in May, and whatever I can manage in between.

Am content with the current fleet as it happens, but I've been tempted to get a silly touring bike for sh!ts n giggles.. GTR1400 flavour of the month

I was tempted to get another silly superbike, as I do miss that ludicrous power occasionally, but when my old K8 is up for sale at £1k more than I paid for it eight years ago, I started looking at what else I could get for similar dosh - and big tourers came into focus. GTR1400, loads of power, handles well (for its size), still quick enough to entertain but capable enough for commuting and bigger trips. EVOnomics has kicked in slightly, I'm looking at 2015+ models now.. hoping its just a phase as I have no room for something like this anyway

Check out Bike world on youtube - they are doing vids using the bike specialist stock in Sheffield. Also take them on the roads we use which is good too.

Been a fine biking weekend. Went out friday with 3 mates. One got a stone through his Ducati rad so that was him done. The rest of us carried on and got camerad coming out of Bakewell towards Sheffield - sneaky part where youre about to wind on to 60+ from 30 - we were doing 45.

Sunday was the eggrun in Sheffield in aid of the kids hospital. 300+ bikes and lots of money raised for the kids - the smiles on their faces was worth it alone.

All in all pretty good to be out again!

I went to BMW Motorrad Manchester today to blag a test on the S1000XR. After my mini tour of Scotland last week its obvious the T7 is better suited to gentle touring, and I missed the Tracer (almost). Anyway, they let me loose for two hours, I managed a stint on the terrible M62, then some A roads, then some town work.. a good mix.

This years model has been tamed at lower revs it seems, its very tractable but smooth and friendly around town/low speeds. Grab the throttle and things improve quickly however, it goes pretty hard above 6k rpms (and sounds very bloody good doing it). Great brakes, agile handling, comfy for two hours.

So, considering I'm not getting any younger, and fuel prices only going up, I talked myself into chopping the Street Triple in for a new XR.. well, the dealer helped, finding me a nice Triple black TE that is due next month (new orders are Sept at best..).

So yeah, BMW S1000XR Triple black, Touring pack, Dynamic pack, plus a load of other guff I don't need but are nice for resale. Due next month, so hopefully time to run in a give it a good test somewhere far away..
