There's a chap on PH who had a new Taycan Cross Turismo for a week before he hit a pothole and bent a wheel. Rather than just replacing the wheel Porsche require (and the car's warranty will not be valid in future unless this is done):
- Since the suspension components are cast aluminium Porsche insist they are replaced along with the air suspension strut, due to unknown load through the suspension.
- Replacement of the steering rack as it’s a sealed unit which isn’t able to be inspected or repaired. As part of replacing the steering rack Porsche also require replacement of the steering column.
- A check of the entire bodyshell alignment on a jig as well as stress test the turret top mount for the air suspension strut.
- Since the Taycan is a specialist vehicle, only a specially trained technician can do the work.
The estimate is around £17-18,000 mostly comprising parts. So think yourself lucky the bumper is such a bargain.

Yeah, it's ridiculous isn't it. Sadly since Porsche know about it he can't just order another wheel to replace the damaged one, his warranty is in jeopardy if he doesn't get all that work done. It's covered by insurance but fuck.

I guess it depends how bent the wheel is, but it does seem ridiculous. Components are usually designed to deform in a controlled and progressive way to make repair easier.
For an impact hard enough to potentially misalign the body you’d expect to be sweeping the wheel into a big bag

I think I'd be ordering a smaller diameter alloy size if I were speccing a Taycan now.

I was actually reading that list thinking that their requirements didn't seem that unreasonable! I mean, we're all well aware of Porsche's turret issues aren't we?

4 Series has an issue with the brakes in that they are shit, alarmingly so. The pads have plenty of life in them but to my untrained eye they don't seem to be contacting the disc fully. There is no vibration under braking, just a lot less stopping power.

3k inc all fittings etc. I am waiting on one more quote tho so maybe a bit less. Either way as soon as you mention insurance then things seem to go up.
On that note I put a call in to porsche to get a price for them to fix it - within 10 mins I got a call back from their ambulance chaser claims department wanting to know all the accident details and nothing forthcoming on quoting the parts and paint. They also wanted to see it to provide a price of supplying a new bumper and painting it which is a bit weird as I explained theres only minor damage and nothing is bent / moved. Useless.

Treated the Z4 to ac schnitzer 25mm lower springs and 10mm spacers, along with a full alignment this week. It looks a lot better, in fact my crappy pics dont do it justice but the feel is oem, or as my wife who only drives in comfort mode said "are you sure they changed anything". The steering feel is a lot better around the centre (probably due to the factory alignment) and there is a lot less jitter and bounce on uneven lanes when pushing on. Cost was just shy of £900, but that includes warranty cover for anything that BMW wont pay for due to the mods.

Looks way better - my e92 had similar stance improvements - only millimetres different, but overall look transformed without ruining the function.

My compact rides really nicely on its schnitzer springs. I’m not totally happy with how it sits, but reluctant to put coilovers on it and spoil it

I totally ruined a scooby sti and paid over the odds for the privilege, never again. I know its probably down to the alignment as much as the new kit, but I can overstate how much more enjoyable it is to drive now.
