Could you do it (2)

So, you find yourself in the Kremlin and have on your person a pistol (see Beany for details of weapon).
You break away from your tour group and accidentally find yourself in a room with Putin. You now have a choice. You could say 'oops, sorry, wrong room' and leave and try and find your tour group again. Alternatively you could do your best 'Yippee Ki-Yay' and dispatch Putin with a double tap to his head.
You know if you do this the presidential security service are going to try and find you and your chances of getting out of the Kremlin and Russia will be slim, but equally by cutting off the head off the Russian establishment will likely see Putin's war end and potentially millions of lives saved as a benign leader rises to take his place. Remember though, the chances for your own life are slim.

You're making an awful lot of assumptions.
TL;DR: could you kill an evil man at the cost of your own life? Don't have an answer.

Sounds like a pretty good way to guarantee escalation.
Re: Could you do it (2)
I'm pretty sure that if you kill the leader of Russia you become the leader of Russia, they're like Klingons that way.
An absolute unit
Re: Could you do it (2)
Where is the “I’d prefer an argument” option?
Re: Could you do it (2)
You would want a pistol that supports armour piercing or at least has decent penetration - there are a few pistols that use ammo shaped like rifle rounds, but in a smaller caliber, that have significantly better penetration than a traditional man-stopper like .45Simon wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 10:45 am So, you find yourself in the Kremlin and have on your person a pistol (see Beany for details of weapon).
Soft body armour which Putin likely wears regularly would stop a 9mm/.45 (it'd hurt but it wouldn't penetrate), whereas the high penetration rounds would pass through easily.
Edit: something like an FN Five Seven would be suitable; the ammo was specifically designed to beat common body armour types worn by modern military forces - came out of the FN P90 project.

You'd need several rounds across the torso to prevent the possibility of paramedics staunching the wounds, and being able to suture them enough to get to a hostpital etc.
Half a dozen rounds in the central body mass would likely be good enough to get him on the ground, then empty the rest of the magazine into his face.
Can you tell I'm having a frustrating day?
Re: Could you do it (2)
Novichok would be more apt.

I’d do it with my bare hands. Give me five minutes in a room with him etc

@Beany I'm more concerned about why you think that's something worth knowing about.

Too big to be concealable.

He's a half-decent judoka - he'd break them into little pieces.240PP wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 12:59 pm I’d do it with my bare hands. Give me five minutes in a room with him etc

If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Maybe he's just hangry? Someone get him a bag of salted peanuts, and this'll all be over by tomorrow morning.

The real man would lock the room door, throw the pistol to one side and silently bow to Putin.
No words would need to pass between us. The former black belt judo champion would know the challenge was on.
With clinical efficiency, you place him in a choke hold. He is skilled enough to know this is unbreakable.
You give him one final ultimatum and calmly dictate terms of his surrender, laying out with breathtaking clarity how Russia's geopolitical position is untenable. A single tear rolls down Vladimir's cheek as he knows he has lost this, and all battles.

If you did the “sorry, wrong room” you’d likely be taken to a spot that handily has no cameras and water boarded until you confessed to being a spy and wanting to assassinate the president anyway, so you might as well get the job jobbedSimon wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 10:45 am So, you find yourself in the Kremlin and have on your person a pistol (see Beany for details of weapon).

This might be a big ask - I’ll likely be pretty tired after stepping in to lane the plane on the way there.
