Anyone want a chainsaw?

Post by Zonda_ »

My dad bought one last year but his cancer has advanced rapidly and it’s never been used. It’s a Stihl MS181.

It's the kind of thing that, as a man, I feel I ought to own, but have zero real use for.

Yes, I keep thinking I should have it, mainly as I hate our massive conifers but my track record with spinning blades of death forbids it. Well, the other half does…

Agreed - but I know myself and so, I will NEVER EVER use, let alone own, a Chainsaw.

They’re good fun and pretty safe. Give it a whizz.

You're spoiled Mito - where you live means you have plenty of call to use them and get naturally proficient.

Whereas I would only have the need every once in a blue moon and I'd cut myself taking it down off the shelf...

It’s the kind of thing I could probably use… 🤔 - have an extending electric one that inherited from my dad, but it’s not awesome and the cable restricts its use somewhat…. Will PM you

My scout group could always do with one, depending on how much you would want for it?

Chainsaws are great fun, I once woke up a friend who was sleeping in my bed by redlining one in my bedroom at 8am after an all-nighter. She just looked at me in a very resigned way and said "turn it off Gavin"

I've just checked and I have a MS181-C (presumably the cvnt edition) that I bought in an emergency. It doesn't like sitting with ethanol for more than a month so drain the tank and run it dry. It's a nice saw though - I was tempted to get a pointy blade on to learn chainsaw carving but never had the time.
