The price of everything!!!
Re: The price of everything!!!
Could you transfer your role skills to the NHS? My wife worked in banking in a very stressful environment, got made redundant and then took a few months out of work. She successfully applied for a job in the NHS doing a similar role to what she was doing in the bank and according to her the office dynamic is 100% better than the bank. Colleagues are genuinely friendly and no expectations to work stupidly long hours or sort out problems out of hours either. You can search directly on the NHS website rather than using an agency too if interested.

I was going to suggest the charity shop too and didnt want to sound condescending. I gave away some fairly decent boss stuff to St Lukes a while ago - they email you to update on how much they claimed back on your donations. I reckon someone got real bargains !unzippy wrote: Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:14 pm FFS, I set fire to wood for living, even I know you blur the background.
As for £100 for M&S threads, charity shops sell perfectly decent work wear. If you want new - Asda/Tesco.
Thank you for donating to our St Luke’s shops and using your little pink key fob to Gift Aid!
By signing up as a Gift Aid Donor, you agreed that we could contact you to advise you how much we raised from the sale of your goods.
I am pleased to tell you that proceeds from selling your goods have raised £1.98 (net of commission and VAT). To donate this sum towards the services and care that St Luke’s provide to the people of Sheffield, you need do nothing further.
We can now reclaim an additional £0.49 in Gift Aid in the Tax Year 05 Apr 2022.

A few things to pick up on, but initially - yeah, something like that works so me no harm. I've got a recruitment consultant looking at roles in Yorkshire Building Society (the consultant has fuller context than you lot on my experiences at work) permanently because he's always had good feedback from people he's placed there, etc. That might go somewhere, might not.John wrote: Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:34 pm Could you transfer your role skills to the NHS? But yes, somewhere less avaricious would be a start.

First time I've put over 80 quid in my car today.
Also, the fuel bills for the house are absolutely going through the roof too. Set to get worse in April. You have to wonder about older people on a budget. Speaking of which, the over 60s will have to pay for their prescriptions come April too. Wonder when the protests will start

Re: The price of everything!!!
We've just had the letter from eon confirming the likely increase in our annual bill... the standing charge (per day) is going to double and unit rate (per kWh) is going up by 33%.
Cheers,
Mike.

So just a teeny bit more than inflation
We’re officially going to be like those old folks who talk about buying a new car for £1000 in 1970.

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The price of everything!!!
This is why we fixed back in November, it’s been on the cards for a long time now. I feel I’ve got a good deal at 22p/kWh which is ridiculous

They'll get you on the standing charge @V8Granite
Re: The price of everything!!!
Ours was quite low but I have a feeling they can change that whenever they like.

Re: The price of everything!!!
I’m in the position where my current fixed price tariff ends on march 31st. Price cap raises from 1st April
couldn’t be worse timing.
What’s everyone’s opinion on new tariffs, go into a variable tariff in the hope prices drop of just suck it up and go on a fixed price which is *slightly* below the cap incase of any further increases?

Re: The price of everything!!!
I’m on a variable one for now. Got an email saying my direct debit is going up. I’ve not opened it yet…
Left over crest; tightens.

Brent crude also up today

And wheat futures up too, Russia is by far the world's largest exporter of wheat, so that's going to drive food prices up a bit more.

An unfortunate truth; war is good for business.

You have to wonder if modern warfare includes shorting the shit out of foreign business as well.

Re: The price of everything!!!
Maybe bp are down because of the uncertainty, despite the commodity price increase.
You're right, there's a load of businesses that are going to be ripe for shorting, especially if sanctions are placed on Oligarchs. Louis Vuitton sales will probably decrease

I lost £1300 in RR shares since it opened this morning.
War is normally good for RR shares so either they don’t think we will be involved or they think we will be anhialated.
Dave!

Well a few more weeks of Vlad losing his shit and we’ll be on £2 a litre…
