No F1 thread?
Re: No F1 thread?
I'd like them to have excluded the Abu Dhabi results. Wouldn't have made a difference but would have made Max's title even more questionable. Can't have everything though

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: No F1 thread?
You have to feel sorry for LH and Max* for different reasons. I genuinely expected a lot better from F1 than say football, the whole thing is a huge mess with questionable calls throughout 2021.
Re: No F1 thread?
It was the only solution. Looks like the FIA have done essentially the right things, I'm amazed it took this long to implement some pretty obvious solutions, but that's F1.Jobbo wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 2:17 pm Masi sacked then, but Lewis still doesn't get the 2021 championship. Which is right, since it must be won on the track not after the event, IMO, even if the rules are fucked up at the time.
Link for those that CBA to look it up.

Interesting that they’re splitting up the races between two guys.. possible interpretation of the rules differently each race: good or bad depending on if your favourite driver benefits, I suppose.

At least we can forget the whole debacle now and look forward to the season. Can't wait to see how GR goes up against LH.
Highly improbable, but what if Merc missed a trick on the new regs and GR ended up at the back again?

I don't think it's a bad thing in terms of sharing the spotlight, but I guess with no team comms the race director is not thrust into the public domain in the way that MM was with the broadcast comms.IanF wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 4:07 pm https://news.sky.com/story/michael-masi ... e-12544423

Yeah, it’ll just be deposits to the usual offshore accounts anyway!duncs500 wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 4:12 pmI don't think it's a bad thing in terms of sharing the spotlight, but I guess with no team comms the race director is not thrust into the public domain in the way that MM was with the broadcast comms.IanF wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 4:07 pm https://news.sky.com/story/michael-masi ... e-12544423

Re: No F1 thread?
Couldn’t happen as it would have greater implications further down the line in the team championships which is what means money to them, not the drivers championshipMito Man wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 2:36 pm I'd like them to have excluded the Abu Dhabi results. The merc looks great. I like that they’ve actually done something with the wheel covers. Been disappointed with how many plain black ones we’ve seen so far.
Cheers, Harry
Re: No F1 thread?
I’ve seen a brief clip of it going round Silverstone (what a day to do it
) and unlike all the other cars so far they’ve hidden nothing, the floor is very complex which I thought wouldn’t be allowed this year.
The car doesn’t have some radical aerodynamic philosophy like the Ferrari but it does seem to have the tightest packaging around the side pods.

Real car
I think the wheel covers this year are the same on every car, the teams can just put stickers over them. Which is a bit weird as you’d think it’s one of the cheaper bits to develop?

The RB looks interesting!
Re: No F1 thread?
The Merc and red bull have very delicate looking carbon fibre aero side skirts.
Re: No F1 thread?
It’s clear to me that the FIA’s idea that the cars would have a very spec exterior with no additional aero devices apart from the obvious front and rear wing has not turned out very much like that at all!
Also Leclerc setting a time just 3 seconds off the fastest lap during the race last year with a presumably pretty sandbagged and still under developed car is exciting. They were saying these cars would be 8-10 seconds a lap slower at one point. At least I assume that’s what Pirelli were hoping. So the tyres may still be shit if the cars are so much faster than expected.
