I occasionally forget I'm in work and will open WhatsApp in work and have to quickly hide a closeup of someone's genitals.

Would never dream about putting Whatapp on my works phone, I'd be sacked before the week was out.

One of my mates keeps posting clips from the SimplyLovleh brotherhood or something like that. It's just....wrong. all kinds of wrong.

I don't use what's app regularly, but until very recently I thought this kind of dodgy shit had died a death years ago. Then a friend showed me their whatsapp and I quickly learned I was very, very wrong.

I still don’t really understand the whole hashtag thing. You add them So people can find your tweets/pictures if they’re looking for that specific topic? - Why would any random person want other random people to find their tweets and pictures?

For the likes, retweets, recognition and attention. Obvs.

In fact the amount of attention it's possible to generate is quite amazing. A friend of mine posts up random travel pics on Instagram - nothing special really or even that interesting.

Over 26k followers 😐

You can whore yourself out to some companies for free shit or advertising when you have that many followers.

Yes, instagrammers with a large number of followers are basically free-lance advertisers. You’ll see them swapping their watch over to ensure it gets in shot, having labels of shit visible etc. Mine’s full of cars and scantily clad hosties.. I like Instagram 😂

Twitter is like your personalised newsfeed; with the risk that you’ll only ever see one side of every argument because of who you follow. If you can balance that, it’s pretty good.
Cheers,

Ian

Ah OK. She's a digital marketer so may have a plan. Or she might not. Either really.

so is that what every single person who uses hashtags is trying to do? Seems unlikely.

Not everyone but if you have 20,000 followers then probably. There was a whole thing in the news about people with such accounts asking hotels and other firms for free stays or products in return for posting photos and good reviews on Instagram.

seems a lot of dicking about typing a load of shit after your posts just in case you suddenly get a massive amount of followers. I still don’t get it.

Seems like most people under 30 are trying to find an easy way out of the rat race. With all these social media celebrities now they want a slice of the ever diminishing pie. Would probably be way more successful if they focused their spare time on actually developing their own career.

People search on Instagram for photos they’re interested in. If you tag up your pics, it makes it easy for them to get found.

On Twitter, the same applies but instead it’s subjects people may want to discuss.

There’s not really a lot else to get. It’s not hard really, is it?

I personally don’t get this modern fashion of wilful or faux ignorance.

its not either of those - I don’t get why you’d want other random people to find your photos? I 100% get sharing photos with people you know, but why do I want people elsewhere to see them?
