Re: Randomness
Isn’t there something about reversing a 911 on a trailer or is that an old wives tail?
Re: Randomness
No, it’s absolutely correct. Rear and mid-engined should be reversed on.
Re: Randomness
I'd expect it's valid - the weight of the 911s engine and gearbox would then be towards the middle of the vehicle chain, not right out the very back, which would theoretically reduce the pendulum effect.jamcg wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:05 pm Isn’t there something about reversing a 911 on a trailer or is that an old wives tail?
Someone in the Twitter replies mentioned that common knowledge is to do the same with mid engine cars too, probably for similar, but less extreme reasons.

Re: Randomness
Albeit surely that depends on whether it's front-mid or rear-mid.Beany wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:21 pmI'd expect it's valid - the weight of the 911s engine and gearbox would then be towards the middle of the vehicle chain, not right out the very back, which would theoretically reduce the pendulum effect.jamcg wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:05 pm Isn’t there something about reversing a 911 on a trailer or is that an old wives tail?

Yeah thatSwervin_Mervin wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 4:11 pm Albeit surely that depends on whether it's front-mid (aka faux -mid-engined) or rear-mid (aka real-mid-engined)
Re: Randomness
Depends where the axles on the trailer are. If they're bang in the middle then you really want to stick the heavier end of the thing you're transporting towards the front.

If your trailer has some rear bias then it won't matter as much and depending on tongue weight you'll probably want to drive something like a 911 in pointing forwards.

How about not having a sig at all?

Did that start when he was pulling into the middle lane after overtaking the camera car?

Re: Randomness
But ironically, having the weight right out the back would be peak 911.Beany wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:21 pmI'd expect it's valid - the weight of the 911s engine and gearbox would then be towards the middle of the vehicle chain, not right out the very back, which would theoretically reduce the pendulum effect.jamcg wrote: Thu Jan 06, 2022 3:05 pm Isn’t there something about reversing a 911 on a trailer or is that an old wives tail?

I got a written letter (addressed to the occupier) from the Jehovah's Witnesses today.
Clearly COVID is hitting them hard.
More annoyingly, it's purported to be from a fourteen year old girl. Ah, indoctrination.
Intensely depressing.
