Seems that they pulled some all nighters to get it finished. Wonder how much they captured on video in the rush to get it done.

Re: Project Binky
Ooh I might actually watch an episode now it's done
Re: Project Binky
I was a bit surprised when I went to pick up my new car this week - Bad Obsession Motorsport is shown just over the road:
Doesn’t look like a roller shutter door so I’m not sure if that’s actually where Binky has been built. Would have been fun to spot it on the trailer though.

Re: Project Binky
I'm looking forward to
a) Ep 37 with the final bits being bolted on, tuning etc
b) Eps 38 onwards with the car actually blasting round a circuit
c) The eventual movie of this starring Mark Wahlberg as both Rich and Nik.

@57:20 still not quite all there...
Re: Project Binky
New episode out at some point today
Re: Project Binky
That solution to the clutch pedal issue is a genuinely lovely piece of engineering. Like the best engineering, it looks logically simple, until you stop and think about the math on the angles, resultant forces and clearance that someone had to do to make it look so simple and elegant.
That Flexi drive work around is also nice. Be curious to see how long it lasts on the real world but again, the 'simple' solution of a one way needle bearing feels like it'll basically prevent the issue from recurring, full stop.
Good stuff.

I now use MATH just to annoy people. HTH X
Re: Project Binky
Brilliant to watch and a laugh at the box of shame with all the fabbed up clutch iterations. A lovely but o'linkage in the end.
Random point of pendantry I ran ST205 calipers w 300mm discs on the MR2 with 16s and it was eff tight, but not as effing tight as their eff tight caliper setup

Re: Project Binky
I can’t help but think virtually every part they’ve fabricated or used from another source is going to need redesigning like the clutch pedal and flexi drive. Even if parts don’t fail, they are probably going to need tweaking to make them comfortable to use or to stop them squeaking or whatever. That’s inevitable when developing stuff.

Re: Project Binky
I like the clutch solution, but I was expecting them just to use an over centre spring assisted action, although I guess it would have needed one heck of a spring assist on the original setup
One way clutch on the alternator drive just seems so obvious now they’ve had an issue and decided that’s the solution, wonder if they even thought about it when first designing the system?
Love the wheels

Me: oh, they’re off to a hill climb, it must be nearly ready
Them: we haven’t fitted the brakes, we haven’t even made the brakes

Over a year since any Binky content. Long time to make some dials.
