I thought the new rule for pedestrians at junctions was always the case.

Where did that come from? Can't even spell kerb ffs.

Cyclists have always been able to position themselves in the middle of the lane. The ped one was always a grey area as, if they were in the road before you turned in, then they had priority anyway. Hence to say that vehicles had priority is not telling the whole truth. It's just reinforcing greater caution when turning really.

Really? You're to stop in the way of a car behind to let someone cross the road and get mowed down by a car on the other side coming to the junction. Where's the rule for the other side?

As for the cyclist bit, they are usually in the way anyway

The pedestrian bit makes perfect sense.

I brought this up in that YouTube video of the bike cunt.
Every junction should be treated as a pedestrian crossing - which will be interesting in busy areas with lots of foot traffic

That graphic is hosted on the DailyFail website. I have to assume it’s therefore utter bollocks.

I think the old rule was that pedestrian had priority if they had started to cross, not if they are stood on the pavement. New rule presumes priority regardless.

Primary position for cyclists has always been advised in Cyclecraft, cycle training, etc if you need to give yourself more space, or prevent some bellend trying to squeeze an overtake between you and a traffic island. Was never formalised in the Highway Code but good for it to be.

What's the source for this?
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

Highway Code
The Highway Code doesn't say this though.

"watch out for pedestrians crossing a road into which you are turning. If they have started to cross they have priority, so give way"

Reading more - this comment worries me far more than those points:

"Cars indicating to turn left or right will also have to give way to cyclists coming from behind and going straight on, only turning once they have passed."

I already do that, most cyclists don't have any self preservation abilities and I've seen plenty of occasions where a car slowed to turn, the cyclists kept going into a disappearing gap and fortunately it just ended with both parties swearing a lot at each other. Just not worth it.

To sum up "let them* race."

*them being cyclists.
